Hi all I believe that I have solved my problem after downloading a new version of Marlin and figuring how to setup the five extruders I have now seen the first extruder moving all be it in the wrong direction it moves. In my previous post I said about the pins problem I overcame this by defining all the extruder pins directly beneath the board definition in configuration.h and to my great reliefby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
]Hi all another week now past I am still trying to find the problem, I have eliminated the hardware with the aid of the ramps test sketch and the slicer by using another slicer and whats more the sliced sketch I used on my other printer with the same AUX3 pins for its third diamond extruder stepper and having disabled the ABS filament the sketch ran fine including the extruder motor and so to mby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
That:s what I though, I think that it may be in the Gcode where the error is but I am not sure I noticed that it contains several G92 E0 lines I will try taking them out ??by Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Thanks Dust, But if XY&Z are still working and they are surly that must rule out the poly fuse or are they an a separate fuse setting and so I am going to give the slicer settings a cote of looking at it seems to be adding G92 E0 in quite a few places down the Gcode, I have commented them out and I will keep you postedby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Thanks Dust ,after a long weekend I have now uploaded the sketch starting with the un edited version which worked perfect on all onboard motors and then adding one extruder at a time until and now all eight stepper motors are working fine all thanks to your superb sketch. Then I uploaded Marlin and started a test print it started off just fine and then after about five minutes all extruders stopby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Hi Dust, I have added the extra axes to the Ramps1.4 test file and it compiles without error, so does that mean that the pins are all OK and not duplicated, do I upload it as is to the printer overwriting the Marlin sketch or do I somehow include it to the Marlin sketch to upload and run I am sorry if this seems a strange question but I really am not up to speed on this subject .by Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Thanks Dust for a very speedy reply I have downloaded the suggested file and as I understand it I will edit it to include and add the extra axes pins from my pins.h compile and run it and get back to you. thanks againby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Hi all, I am at a complete loss, My extruders on my latest five colour mixing printer will not turn, I am using a Mega 256 with Ramps 1.4 and three add on extruders together with Marlin firmware. At power on all extruders are free turning, no power as are X Y and Z When I ask it to home all axes X Y and Z home perfectly then I heat the hot end to 200 degrees (PLA) minimum temp set to 105 degrees,by Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Hi all I have the same problem I swapped out the mega 2560 and fitted a new Ramps 1.4 fitted all new A4988 drivers and tuned them checked out cable connections tried new cable tried the extruder cable on the z drive and the motor works fine swapped the A4988 onto the Z drive and it worked fine checked all voltages on the A4988 and cant find a problem, I set the minimum temperature to 105 degreesby Nigel Kelly - RAMPS Electronics
Hi Thanks for your reply , I think you may have not fully understood my first message so I have enclosed showing the separate driver board with second axis driver and the stepper driver for the Z axis on the Ramps board that I have extended the Enable Step and Direction pins with 3 wires to share the instructions from Ramps not only with the onboard axis but with both the onboard and remote axby Nigel Kelly - General
Hi all, my wild imagination is going again, having got my printer working with the diamond mixer hot end and my head turned to the slow speed of the Z axis which was causing head crashes when I tried to speed up printing and so looking at the Arduino /Ramps layout and noting that X and Y use their own A4988 driver the Z axis driver shares with 2 steppers, so my logic says that each Z axis motor mby Nigel Kelly - General
Hi there, my machine is a totally home made, based on the I3 design it had a cheepo chines diamond hot end and power supply and has an arduino mega 256 and a ramps 1.4 board with an extra stepper driver. I am a retired guy who developed an interest in 3D printing and with time on my hands I went from there , some of you out there may think how sad, well maybe so but what the heck ?.by Nigel Kelly - Firmware - Marlin
Hi all, I am a registered user of Kisslicer though still would not class myself as an expert I am Retired with time on my hands and I have built a prusa I3 clone machine controlled with Arduino megga and a Ramps 1.4 breakout board it has an additional stepper driver for the third extruder and a self leveling probe as the Z endstop I have fitted a cheep Chinese Diamond extruder fed by 3 steppersby Nigel Kelly - Experimental
Hi all, just a quick follow up to my last post, I have now got my printer working and printing all three colours and completing the three banded test cube, to achieve this I had to convert from 3mm filament to 1.75 mm and use direct extrusion rather than bowden tubes. The print quality still needs working on but at least it prints.by Nigel Kelly - General
Hi all, I am as you probably know a retired guy my hobby is building different printers as cheaply as possible, making as many component's as possible from various materials, I have built a basic prusa I3 type which is my old faithful on which I make all the plastic parts, I have a metalwork lathe and lots of oddments of metal to use. My latest project is another prusa type this time with added eby Nigel Kelly - General
Hi all, I seem to have stumbled on the answer, I changed the power take off, I moved the 12 volt supply from the power suppl to the ramps 12 volt pins and the 5 volt from auxillary 2 pins and now it is behaving perfectly as if by magic. Thanks to all who replied I will bear your comments in mind for future. cheers Nigel.by Nigel Kelly - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all I have added a 3rd exuder stepper to my ramps aux2 and defined pins in Pins_ramps.h as follows: #define E2_STEP_PIN 40 #define E2_DIR_PIN 63 # define E2_ENABLE_PIN 42 I have taken 5volts from a step down board connected to the 12 volt power supply and the 12 volt directly to the power supply. The motor is obviously connecting as I am having strange results, the extruderby Nigel Kelly - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all I have yet another printing problem all vertical surfaces are coming out with diagonal lines approximately .5mm across and .5mm deep across them ,added on to the dimension both internal and external surfaces. I have braced and tightened all axes and belts to prevent flexibility and tried temperature variations all to no avail, I might add the same gcode prints fine on an earlier i3 cloneby Nigel Kelly - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all, I have set eight colour mixing codes in CuraEngine slicer start gcodes as follows: M163 S0 P0.5; 100% Red M163 S1 P0.5; 0% Green M163 S2 P0; 0% Blue M164 S4; Store color Mixing in Tools T1 M163 S0 P0.5; 0% Red M163 S1 P0.5; 100% Green M163 S2 P0; 0% Blue M164 S4; Store color Mixing in Tools T2 M163 S0 P0.5; 0% Red M163 S1 P0.5; 0% Green M163 S2 P0; 100% Blue M164 S4; Store color Mby Nigel Kelly - Firmware - Marlin
Hi all, I am running Geekcreit megga 256 and Geekcreit ramps 1.4 with Marlin / arduino 1.8.9 on my homemade i3 clone and since I upgraded arduino to 1.8.9 my X axis will not move, I have tested the continuity of the motor winding's from the board (ramps) end of the cable and both pairs of winding's are fine, I have changed the A4988 stepper driver for a new one and checked and rechecked both confby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Hi all,Thanks to all for great advice in the past, I have configured marlin now to drive all three mixing steppers, I have yet another question can anyone tell me how to make the LCD "move axis menu include E1 and E2, at the moment I can see and move move X, Y, Z, and E0 but E1 and E2 do not appear in the menu I have searched through marlin but how to add these steppers to the move menu escapes mby Nigel Kelly - Reprappers
Hi thanks for the quick reply, does'nt it always happen after banging my head against a brick wall for days I ask for help and then I take another look at my configuration.h and see the following /** * With this option each E stepper can have its own factors for the * following movement settings. If fewer factors are given than the * total number of extruders, the last value applies to the reby Nigel Kelly - General
Hi all, I am trying to setup a mixing extruder in my latest marlin download, I have defined single extruder, and set numbers of steppers used by by it to 3, but I am unable to define steps for more than 1 extruder i.e E1 and E2 and when I compile with just E0 configured and upload the sketch to my arduino mega with ramps 1.4 I get a eeprom version mismatch error . What am I doing wrong????? #by Nigel Kelly - General
