They may be talking about the console window of the arduino software. In which case you click the rightmost button in arduino labeled serial port (looks like a tv with antenna) and it will open the serial console. Then you need to set the baud rate to the rate specified in the arduino code (inside the parenthesis of the serial.begin() statement)by knuckles904 - Reprappers
