I have also been working on a concept for a new bed leveler and thought i would share my idea. I really like the idea of automatic bed leveling but i think it would be nice to have something that... 1. Majority of people could print without purchasing new parts 2. Really like this idea but i have issues with springs. they seem create to much play so what about a hinge at the top.... only issue i see with that is, levers and fixed points don't really get along to well, Hinge would change distance as it moved up and down.by xjcrawler01 - General Mendel Topics
Just finished mine, looking like its just over $500.00 i went as cheap as i could with the ability to upgrade as needed with ramps electronics. here is a google doc with my spreadsheet with all that i found might be able to get away a little cheaper(maybe). Love the concept of this i started sourcing parts for this early this morning, however i had a class this afternoon and we are building a makerbot cupcake with the mk5 extruder. We needed to fix a couple of things so we took apart the hot end to replace the resistors and i was surprised how small the melting pot was. (roughly 2.25mm^3) Insanely small. Given that information i dont know how a larby xjcrawler01 - Reprappers
