Hi Bruce, Truespace is great! - it's a powerfull 3D-programm with tons of features, possibilities and STL-export, so would fit perfect for our needs. The tutorials are very good too, and you need them - you have much to learn until you're in. But it's much easier to adopt then blender. Hi all, i found a nice application, which actually is made with a CNC-dispenser, but would be an interesting sidepath for RepRap: Here a dispenser draws the outlines of decorative images with an elevated tray of coloured paste (mostly black) and pours/sprays "windows-colour" in the surrounded areas. In the printers from this age i found direct driven linear drives or stepper-motors (Nema17 or Nema23) and many nested gears as power-transmission. Hi Wade, i did some wirebonding with a 'cheap' manual system (price ~10.000Euros) and it's a hard fiddling until you get the parameters for temperature, pressing force and ultrasonic energy. I bonded with 17 micron and 25 micron gold-wire, what's the 'easiest' process - with thicker wires you have mostly more problems until the process runs ... Hi Andy, ... for micro-injection-moulding you need very high pressures - common systems drives much more then 1000bar! An alternative is 'hot-embossing': - here you have your micro-moulds in hard-alloy or ceramic, cover with a slice of a thermoplast, heat it up and put it in a press where the melted compressed thermoplast fills the mould. ... try with printing a base with v-groves, insert steel-wires, print ontop and finish with some tooth-bars. I've already made some experiments with microdispensing of highly viscous fluids with droplets of 30 microns diameter and 5 to 10 microns height.
