Instead of an optical sensor. You should use a endstop, the type that comes with a small roller. Then make a housing for it. While there is filament inside the housing. The endstop is in closed position. And after making sure filament comes off of the spool when empty. It will roll through and cause the switch to open. Sounds like you guys havent tuned the stepper drivers. Need to kick up the amps the maxify the torque. Clockwise with a ceramic screwdriver until motor humms. Bring back slightly and test torque by holding motor shaft in hand. Shouldnt be able to stop with your hand strength. Unlessnyou are hercules.by pushthatbolder - Printing

you must double the 'Steps' in your firmware. The Power input is the same. although you must manually calibrate them the same you would with your old drivers,by pushthatbolder - Reprappers

Are you talking about the tip? Or the lining of the hotend? If you are talking about the tip. They make and sell hotends with brass changeable tips. These are cheap. And you can easily change between nozzle diameters. If you are talking about the lining of the hotend. Stainless works well. They also have models with teflon lining. yellow. blue . green . red Unless the wires coming out of the motors are in different order. Follow the original melzi wiring order. In your case, looking at your motors wires. And using standard Bi-polar stepper motor wiring and config. Your wiring should be the following yellow (a2) . blue(a1) . green(b1) . red(b2) Go to the melzi wiki page, and follow the wiring. To be honest, I would print it in PLA and then make a sand Mold then cast it is Aluminium. But that because i have a forge and know what im doing. For you, I do not know your skills. You may be able to apply 'topcoat' for ABS The same that you would use with resin and Fibreglass, because the Resin is not usually UV protected. I don't know how well it would stick, but it would be worth a try. Tby pushthatbolder - General

what type of piece are you making? quoting this website i would come to the conclusion of 'ABS is notsuitable for outdoor applications because of its poor UV resistance.' They also mention that there is UV stabilised ABS So it would depend on the Manufacturer, if they have added the additives to the plastics to make them UV stabilised. this website talks about there own products, it was thby pushthatbolder - General

ok after pairing wires first wire a1 second wire b1 third wire a2 fourth b2 (pairs that melzi specs require) Hook them up in this fashion, starting at the Furtherest connect of X-Mot 1B 1A 2A 2B and follow this for the rest of the Axis Motorsby pushthatbolder - Reprappers

post a picture of the wiring out of the motor please. and also, follow general hook-up instructions for Melzi board . Colours change but pairing does not change, Should be set-up like this a,a1,b,b1 or in similar fashion. the pairs are normally in this order (bipolar) in wire order from top (usually looking at motor wire wires facing left) 1st wire with the 3rd wire (1st pair) and 2nd wire wiby pushthatbolder - Reprappers

Repetier new update allows you to mirror image the print. If your prints are already being mirrored. Just mirror them back into right orientation.by pushthatbolder - Reprappers
