Cura slices much faster but has it's own issues. Polygon count of the stl makes all the difference in Slic3r. When I draw and export an stl I export at just below max reasolution unless absolute accuracy in the finished part is needed. The slice time can change by 10 minutes at max res.by elwood127 - Reprappers

Most of us were 2d and 3d designers as hobbyists or pros before 3d printing became a reality. When they went from $20,000 to $1,000 we were first in line to get a machine that could make our dreams and designs a reality. We're the same ones that were the first to use a cassette player as a floppy drive. Look where that led. We're only a few years into this thing and look how far we've come. It'sby elwood127 - General

Nice work man.by elwood127 - Look what I made!
It appears that your first layer is not getting squished enough. Looks to round. I run .2 first layer and .26 second. 170c and 70c w/ part fan running after first layer. I usually use Elmers on glass unless I absolutely have to make sure it sticks in which case I use the pain in the ass blue tape. Hope to get some PEI sheet soon.by elwood127 - Printing
Maybe you have mistaken PLA for ABS. A 40mm fan blowing on the inlet has worked for me.by elwood127 - General
I hope you meant 170c and bed at 70c. I run 180c and 70c.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I designed some replacements for either 8mm or 10mm smooth rods. I made the center piece so that the extruder misses the end mounts. There is an X belt adjuster also. Hope these help.by elwood127 - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteMrp23 Hi brs1701d, I ordered this: in LEFT hand and received the one on to the left of the picture so i would say it would be which side the motor is mounted (maybe?). Please note that part did not fit correctly for me due to the orientation of the block in the the L shaped bracket so i used the springs and screws with this and printed myself out of trouble! As you can see in my picturby elwood127 - Prusa i3 and variants
You might try a cold removal of the filament. If using PLA heat the hotend to about 70c and retract the filament. It should pull out all the way to the nozzle. That will pull out any crud. If ABS heat to about 150c. If it doesn't pull out easily, you probably have a ridge inside between pieces of the hotend. Many hotends have gaps in their construction that allow filament to ooze into if there isby elwood127 - Reprappers
In Slic3r settings, goto "Printer Settings" click "Extruder 1" and see "Extruder Offset". Print a small circle and adjust accordingly. Don't forget to save settings after each change and reslice.by elwood127 - Printing
Hey all, upgraded to win 10 a few days ago, went ok. Don't like it. Tonight I downloaded Repetier 1.6.1. There was no heatbed icon. Decided to go back to 1.6 and lost all of my settings. AHHHH! to make a long nightmare short I ended up restoring win 7 and got everything back. Here's the moral of the story, Take photos of all of your settings pages and save to disk and set the "Restore" date in wiby elwood127 - Reprappers
I run a 40mm fan attached to the control side so that it only runs when SSR is tuned on. Simple and cheap.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Over tightening your hob bearing might amplify a possible issue with your stepper voltages. If low it may skip steps. I use Foxsmart filament. It is checked multiple times for diameter accuracy and is cheap at $16.00 a kilo. Flat $4.00 shipping no matter how many rolls you buy. Get good filament before wasting any time on settings.by elwood127 - Printing
I use 14ga. multistrand wire with silicone covering. 16ga is to small and 12ga is to big for most connectors. The Thermistor is usually mounted through a hole in the center of the heatbed. The double ground solder pads are for 12volt use. If running 24volts only one is grounded. Typical current draw for 12volt is 10.9 amps. (12 / 1.1(ohms) = 10.9 amps.) 1.1 ohms is typical resistance of the heatbby elwood127 - Reprappers
End result, I bumped up the PS to 14.4 vdc. With a 1.6 vdc drop across my SSR I was left with 12.8vdc to the heatbed. Before adjusting I could only get 90c and it took about 45 minutes. Now I'm back up to 110c and it took about 25 minutes. Yea. Back to printing ABS.by elwood127 - Reprappers

I've had issues with diameters varying on cheap and expensive filaments. From 1.5mm to 2.0mm. Now I use only Foxsmart. $16.00 and flat $4.00 shipping on 1 or 100 rolls.by elwood127 - Printing
