Thanks for the math. The power supply is only feeding the heatbed through a 40 amp SSR controlled by the Melzi heatbed wires.. It can run a continuous 25 amps.by elwood127 - Reprappers

Hey all, I want to bump up the voltage from my stand alone power supply to my 200x200mm mk2 heatbed. Need to speed up heating times. What would be a safe voltage? Am using an Astron RS-35M ham radio PS. Right now it is 12.5 volts. Thanks.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I wondered about that oil too. Might be the problem.by elwood127 - Printing
Quotethe_digital_dentist What is the surface material you're printing on? What type of filament? What temperatures? What layer thickness? And what Extrusion Multiplier?by elwood127 - Printing
For what it's worth, the Prometheus is tiny compared to most. Aluminum w/ steel one piece nozzle and 25mm fan.by elwood127 - General
I'm running at 180c. Using a stainless throat and nozzle on my Prometheus V2 and have never jammed. It does use a PTFE tube.by elwood127 - Printing
Maybe a Current sensor on the fan wiring?by elwood127 - Printing
The main problem with PLA is tapping. If you go to fast it melts. I use oil and go very slowly.by elwood127 - Printing
I'm glad I went with Eric's Prometheus V2. Has never jammed.by elwood127 - General
This relay works perfectly with heatsink and fan. Just use heatbed wires as "Control".by elwood127 - General
If you get your filament locally they would probably trade your 3mm for 1.75. Mine did. I also gave up on Bowden. It just wasn't working and constantly stripped the filament.by elwood127 - General
We talked about this recently and the main question was, can it pause the print and sound an alarm so that jams or slips be dealt with and then resume the print. I am very interested in your sensor. I doubt it will work with my cheezy Melzi board but after the eventual upgrade to Smoothie this would be awesome.by elwood127 - General
Nice job DD. Also, your surface finish appears to be beautiful.by elwood127 - Look what I made!
As long as the path is smooth it shouldn't matter where the roll is. Mine is directly above and it does make it nice for filament swaps.by elwood127 - General
It might be a good time to eliminate the 2nd z motor and add a belt and pulley system. This doesn't solve the immediate problem but is something that should be done. My leveling issues are gone since the change. Something to think about.by elwood127 - General
I used these bearings while switching to a one motor Z setup.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Amazing. There are guys like you that talk craft co-ops and community involvment and then there are #@*&heads like the punk selling our Thingiverse drawings on ebay. Can't undrstand how humanity can vary so greatly. All of the givers should be proud. Thanks.by elwood127 - Mechanics
I'm printing pla at 180. Unless you have high print speeds, 210 seems to high. Also, you can gain that .5mm with "Extrusion Multiplier" and or "Extrusion Width". Esteps calc wouldn't hurt either.by elwood127 - Printing
When I print tough parts I use blue tape and turn bed heat off after first layer. That and a part fan get it done.by elwood127 - Printing
The email said that more info would be available next week.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I've been using Foxsmart filament and every color has been awesome. When I absolutely have to get a perfect print I only use it. My many other rolls of different filaments generally fail. When on sale it's $16.00 and $18.00 normally. Shipping is $4.00 no matter how many rolls you buy. The transparent colors are beautiful.by elwood127 - General
I have a similar printer, Z605. The best thing I did was bolt the feet to a 1" board. It almost completely eliminated chassis wobble. Don't forget to cut a window in the board to access the Y belt and chassis nuts.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Looks like a beautiful thing. Have you printed any test pieces (cube, tug boat, etc) and if so do you mind telling us how accurate they are?by elwood127 - Look what I made!
That's awesome man. If you haven't used them, you should look into Testors "Model Master" Metalizer paints. You can polish them if needed. Nice job.by elwood127 - Look what I made!
Quoteatagunov OK I see. BTW could I also please pick your mind re design software? I am still planning to order some 2d parts from an online CNC shop and those I looked at seem to prefer .3dm file (Rhino?.. whatever that is). Do you have much experience here? You mention Blender in the video but I am not sure if that would be the right tool for 2d shapes. I personally tried FreeCAD and was ok witby elwood127 - Look what I made!
You beat me to the praise Garry. The drawing and assembly skills are beautiful. Your attention to details are to be commended. You should be very proud of your abilities. Nice job. Keep'm coming.by elwood127 - Look what I made!
