How does your positive course of action differ from Sanjay's response?by etfrench - General
QuoteDragonFire Just trying to suggest a positive course of action here, I'm not trying to pick a fight. Hmmm, I wonder what you are trying to do.by etfrench - General
It's not hard to find metric bolts and allthread online: If you had ordered when you first posted, you would be half way through your build now.by etfrench - Reprappers
Changing the microstepping on the drv8825 and the A4982 stepper drivers is just a matter of pulling MS1,2, or 3 high or low. It shouldn't be difficult to identify the traces for these and adding jumpers or cutting traces.by etfrench - Reprappers

What did you expect with your topic title? I don't own any E3d products so I don't really care what you're selling.by etfrench - General
What is the maximum current allowed for the stepper? How hard would it be to move the input buttons and LCD to a remote location?by etfrench - General
This drawing shows a delta with the print bed extending outside the horizontals: If you make the horizontals longer in order to have the print bed inside the horizontals, then the towers will also be further away from each other and longer arms will be required for the same size print bed.by etfrench - General
The arm length depends on whether the print bed is entirely inside the horizontals, or if it extends outside the horizontals. The general rule for arm length is that at 60 degrees the effector should be centered and at 20 degrees the effector should be at maximum print size. You just need to use Pythagorean theorem to calculate the desired arm length.by etfrench - Delta Machines
Countersunk implies flathead machine screws which have a 'V' shaped head. Socket head bolt/machine screws do not have a 'V' shaped head. Socket head machine screws installed in a slot or in a slightly oversized counterbore will allow expansion movement.by etfrench - Reprappers
You can calculate how much expansion the bed will have using tools on this site: I'd also recommend using socket head machine screws with a counterbore instead of countersunk flathead machine screws. The later won't allow expansion.by etfrench - Reprappers
QuoteGroupB BTW delta arm shouldn't not be "about X mm" but a precise length. 'About' is OK as long as they are exactly aboutby etfrench - Delta Machines
Fusion 360 will do this as well. It will also come in handy when you want to create your own 3d models.by etfrench - General
It appears to only be able to set the hot end temperature for the entire print instead of by layer(s).by etfrench - General
It will depend on the design. You can put the bed entirely inside the horizontals or it can extend outside. This will determine where the towers are placed and the length of the arms. It's pretty simple geometry to lay it out. Basic formula for arm length is 20 degrees to reach the edge of the print area and 60 degrees with the effector centered.by etfrench - General
If it wasn't for the formaldehyde, MDF would make a great vacuum bed on a 3d printer. It works really well on CNC routers. Perhaps repurposing a ceramic vacuum chuck for mills would work.by etfrench - General
Unless you're just going to print Yoda heads from Thingiverse, you'll need a 3d modeling program. I'd recommend Fusion 360 but there are others. Once you have the program, you can create your own laser patterns.by etfrench - Delta Machines
Why do you need CNC? Skilled machinists can do everything on a manual machine that can be done on CNC. I'd be surprised if every moderately sized city in Spain didn't have small independent machine shops. I would be rather reluctant to use a Chinese company given their abuse of copyrights.by etfrench - General
Basing a business on a single $800 machine with no experience is rather risky (to put it mildly) but depending on your business acumen and luck could turn out quite well. I would recommend making a more thorough analysis of the requirements for the printer instead of just the budget. For example, are you going to just print PLA or will you be printing ABS or Nylon? What other filaments willby etfrench - General
Does the temperature stay at 209 degrees or does it drop to 205 degrees within a few minutes? What effect is the 3 to 4 degrees having on your prints?by etfrench - General
I wouldn't use a Dremel and expect to hold very tight tolerances. Speaking of tolerances, what trace widths do you expect to use? Will your machine handle .008" traces?by etfrench - Reprappers
Quotesungod3k Printing outside the towers. Has that actually been done successfully? I assume you mean printing outside of the horizontals? Mine can theoretically go outside the horizontals, but I haven't had any reason to try actually printing there yet. Quotesungod3k I also bought magnetic joints but the magnetic ends started to scratch away the surface of the ball ends, so I abandoned themby etfrench - Delta Machines

Prometheus will be shipping a two element system soon.by etfrench - General
Probably pretty close. It looks like their diagram requires the arms to go past vertical to get the full diameter.by etfrench - Delta Machines
Fusion 360 is free, so the only real expense is the time it takes to learn it. The length of the arms depends on whether or not you want the entire print bed inside the horizontals or not. Inside requires longer arms. The actual printable shape is not a circle, but a Reuleaux triangle. The calculators should specify what shape of the print area they are calculating in order to be useful. Herby etfrench - Delta Machines
I have a 300mm build diameter and use 350+mm arms. p.s. Fusion 360 would work better than a napkin for drawings and it's cheaperby etfrench - Delta Machines
