Thanks for the advice. Iv been doing a bit of research myself and I think iv settled on either an old unimat, (not the new plastic one that looks like a toy!), or a Peatol. Just need to keep a look out on ebay now!by Andy1989 - Reprappers
Im looking to buy a mini metal working lathe to make my own nozels, spacers etc. Iv never owned a lathe before, but iv used them allot at uni and college so iv got a pretty good idea how to use one. Can anyone suggest what makes and models to look for, and what to stay away from? Thanks Andyby Andy1989 - Reprappers
Does anyone have any suggestions how to check the squareness of delta towers?by Andy1989 - Delta Machines
Iv been sooo close to getting my new delta printer calibrated for weeks now and it driving me insane! With a manual calibration iv managed to get the print level, but my dimension are not accurate. If i print this the 60mm dimensions come out at 59.3, 59.7 and 59.7mm. Iv tried reducing the diagonal rod length and it only made things worse. Iv also tried increasing diagonal rod length, which iby Andy1989 - Delta Machines
Thanks Doug, I really like look of the ECOCast stuff. Its a lot cheaper than I expected too!by Andy1989 - Reprappers
dc42 where do you get your aluminium bed plates? Iv got a 250mm diameter delta printer with the glass sat straight on top of a silicone heater. If i measure the temperature at a few locations there is typically a 5 or 10 deg variation which i think an aluminium heat spreader would reduce.by Andy1989 - Reprappers
After a bit more research and some tests with a old arduino im glad to confirm that you can just plug the sensor straight into 12v, ground, and directly into the z min signal pin. I think the reading of 7v mentioned previously was because the sensor signal was floating, ie not connected to anything. Whereas when its connected to my Rumba board its pulled up to 5v by the internal pull up resistorby Andy1989 - General
Good shout with just trying it with glass! With 5V it doesn't respond to glass, so it must be picking up my silicone heated bed. With 9V it does respond to glass, so assume when i get it wired to 12V it will do too. Also iv measured the voltage on the signal wire when powered with 9V and when triggered its 0V as expected. But when its not triggered is 7.5V. Guess I will need a voltage dividerby Andy1989 - General
Its finaly arrived! Iv wired my LJC18A3-H-Z/BX to 5V and it appears to work okay, and will detect my glass bed from about 2mm with the sensitivity turned right up to maximum. Iv also tried using it with a 9V battery and its a lot more sensitive. Will post again when i get it installed on the printer.by Andy1989 - General
Im so close to getting my delta printer calibration but im struggling at the final hurdle, diagonal rod length. If my prints are too small, do I do i need to increase or decrease diagonal rod length? The equations on this page say reduce it The equations on this page says increase it Which one is correct?by Andy1989 - General
I love your idea, iv been wanting to implement something similar myself for a while but iv just not had the time. Rather than using a servo to lift the unused extruder I was hoping to design a mechanical trigger that could simply be fastened to the very end of the x axis. Then to change extruder all you would need to do is send the carriage to the end of the axis where it would bump into the triby Andy1989 - Repetier
Here the link to the configuration tool, Once you have downloaded the firmware there are installation instructions on the website, Id recommend reading up on the EEPROM settings too. Using EEPROM and the repetier host make calibration soooo much easier! Hope all goes well!by Andy1989 - Reprappers
Iv got a LJC18A3-H-Z/BX on order and i will let you know how i get on. Iv been doing a bit of reading around too and most people seam to use inductive PNP sensor, which doesn't make much sense to me. Firstly the inductive sensors don't respond to glass, and secondly you need to use a voltage divider to drop the 12V output signal so it doesn't fry your ramps. Correct me if im wrong but the capacby Andy1989 - General
Iv bough a NPN NO Capacitance Proximity Sensor, and I just want to double check how to wire it up before I do any damage. I plan on using the +12V pin and a ground pin on EXP 3 on my rumba board to power it, and then (this is the bit it want to check) just connect the signal wire from the sensor directly to the Z min end stop signal pin. If I understand the workings of NPN sensors, pull up reby Andy1989 - General
