You might want to also look at a stepper motor that is a higher holding torque like in the 50 N.cm range. If your stepper is to low in torque then you have to power it with more power to get the torque you need. This would make the stepper get very hot which might cause the pulley to melt which would cause the screw to loosen. It is not just the torque it is also the amps required to drive the sby brucew - Reprappers

Mark, It is cool to see you post here. We try to meet up at least once a year. It s tough with schedules and I for one would love to meetup more often. G04 P5000 is to pause for 5 Sec then you might need to purge the extruder M101 to run the extruder G04 P30000 to run the extruder for 30 sec M103 to shut it off after the purge then continue on again after that but you might want to add a move the z up and then move the z down after the filament change. this would require you to be there to change the filament though I dont know how to addby brucew - Printing
This sounds like spam from the pencil industry. LOL Sorry Stephen the only issue i have seen with Graphite being a locksmith is after a bunch of years it tends to become a friction agent like sand. We use wd40 like oil with teflon it is more expensive under the brand name TriFlow. oh no now i am advertising for them.. Bruce Wattendorfby brucew - Reprappers
good points I think we should also focus on cost and daughter boards might not be the way. we should also bring up the idea of a separate extruder controller yes or no. I have seen a lot of use of our code to drive cnc machines so i would think a separate controller would be cool then we could slowly design a new extruder controller but on the other side a separate extruder controller could cby brucew - Controllers
Just though I would start a post on the electronics and the possible future I feel that the electronics now are not 100% Reprap and better fit Makerbot. In doing this I would hope that we might look into adapting them for Reprap (Mendel). the Motherboard I think needs to be changed to except 12 volts and go away from the PC power supply header and maybe add a USB connection? Way cool, it is to bad somebody could not find a way to mass produce these it might help jump start some more. it would be cool to do this maybe with other parts that there are also multiple of like bar clamps then you might have a better chance of selling these to recoup.by brucew - For Sale
I have just changed the Reprap map to not "advertise" to hopefully limit the "spam" we have been getting I know I have to re add myself every few months. I said that only to try to say I would create a new Map just plan on it getting messed with. You might be better off creating and communicating with local groups in the forums.. That is what we have been doing here in New England USA.by brucew - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Cool I have not been on any of the Stanley sites in about a year. Here is a cool site also They are a small group of people and most are up there in age.. it is kind of neat that there are prob less then 1500 people that can drive these cars. A friend of mine that has one says you don't have to worry about it when you park it at a store because if somebody could drive it you would prob knby brucew - General
Books and movies fall under copyrights which can be renewed Mechanical parts fall under patents which only have a 20 year life after that they can be copied.. The patents for the parts he is dealing with have long since been ran out around 1912. The patents are also a very good source to find out the size of the part and how it works. I am into Stanley Steamers (not that I own one) which iby brucew - General

I just bought 4 Solarbotics RM2 motors for my gm3 gearboxes. These are the black ended motors. (at least the Solarbotics catalog shows black ends I got white). I am also using the DC Motor Driver 1.1 board to drive the motors and I am not getting enough current to the motors. So my torque is not enough to extrude. I have moved to my original motors. I have not yet swapped the wiring just to maby brucew - Controllers

Bob, I have Gcode running off of an SD card on the Sanguino. I am working on cleaning it up and getting my machine back up and running. (This is after changing from the PIC electronics to the Sanguino) I have a LCD board but I have not yet started on the code to integrate it as of right now the firmware will read the first file on the SD card and will display info over the serial port. Hello all I have been working on this for the last week off and on. I have found 3 different libraries they are all very close here are the links and some comments on what I have found. the first was Lady ADA's this was the Arduino wave shield library it is very good but it is not made for .txt files. This one I found it was a replacement for the Lady ADA's GPS shield. I found that thby brucew - Controllers
I got you. I just adjusted mine using a caliper till it was correct. I am using 3/8 inch rod and nuts. I have not tried Chris's firmware and I think I will take a look at it this weekend. The problem you might be having might be caused by the host software overriding the preferances set in the gcode interpiter. Bruceby brucew - RepRap Host
