10 tooth T5 Aluminium pulleys are pretty cheap from China if you look on Aliexpress and they have a 5mm bore, I know I have about 20 sitting on my shelfby NelsonRap - General
Vik recommends his clear PLA I think for casting, I have never done it though, defiantly worth asking himby NelsonRap - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I just use picture frame glass heated to 60C PLA sticks perfectly every time, I wipe it before each print with methylated spirits. No tape to rip no sanding required, as soon as the glass cools prints pop off. I don't understand why people do all this crazy stuff when PLA sticks just fine to glassby NelsonRap - General
Both Mitre 10 and Bunnings sell a whole heap of springs for a reasonable price, for the washers try Blacks or Hylton parkersby NelsonRap - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I am down to my trusty original Sells Mendel again now, sold the last Prusa before moving down here to Chch, I'm currently modelling up a hinged replacement for my Adrians extruder, I was going to just bolt on a Gregs hinged but decided since I have everything dialled in nicely that I didn't want to be messing around recompilling the Gen6 firmware so my replacement will be a drop in using all thby NelsonRap - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I pay NZ$33 for 100m of PLA here in NZ + shipping of around another NZ$8 and no international shipping as it comes from Auckland to me in the South Islandby NelsonRap - General
I run 3 and find it stable enough and it self centres better too. Using 4 means you have to be absolutley 100% in your framing whereas 3 is a bit more forgivingby NelsonRap - General
I use Firefox on windows and can click on a stl file on thigiverse and it offers to download the file automatically. I do use a download manager addon but even without that it offers to downloadby NelsonRap - General
Yes well worth doing the tutorials, that's how I started just over 18 months ago. I got myself a second monitor and had the tutorials open on one and worked on the other screenby NelsonRap - General
I do this too but it often slips off which is why I'm looking at a hinged extruder gsport Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When my filament runs out or I need to change > colour I just do the following. > > 1. Hmm good idea about a Prusa carriage didn't think of that even have some bearings spare, although I might go with the Open X design. DOn't have a lot of spare cash right now so am going to keep with the longer hotend I am already usingby NelsonRap - General
That was my understanding too but haven't had a chance to check it out yet, thinking of printing one to go on my printerby NelsonRap - General
I have an Adrian's on my Sells Mendel and find it a pain to get the filament in when I reach the end of roll or need to change colour. Has anyone designed an hinged alternative that will fit on the same carriage? If not I will have to get my drawing hat onby NelsonRap - General
Solidworks because I know how to use it, learning FreeCAD at the moment due to the cost of upgrading Solidworksby NelsonRap - General
Wouldn't there be too much backlash?by NelsonRap - General
derevaun Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe the M8 x 50 grub screw is for the X Idler? > Simply sawing off 50mm from leftover lengths of > framing rods suffices. It will be but I use a 50mm leftover peice of threaded rod with 2 nylock nuts instead same for the wadesby NelsonRap - General
4mm aluminium plate is what I use for my bed and then bolt on 4no 2.2ohm housed resistors as I only print PLA and they get plenty hot enough for that.. Did the plastics come with plastic bushes or housings for round bearings. If you have I2 then it's only a matter of cutting down the smooth rods for the X axis if they are too long otherwise most of the rest is the sameby NelsonRap - General
I have only ever use 10 LM bearings as I only use 3 on the heated bed not four. I find it runs nicer and is easier to centre and I have made about 30 of them to date with no problemsby NelsonRap - General
Thanks will have a try at the weekend, using XP 32bitby NelsonRap - General
Not yet because my only SD capable card is finished yetby NelsonRap - General
After much thinking I realised the freezer is on the same circuit, but haven't had time to see if it is what's causing the issueby NelsonRap - General

Nope not a power down issue, and not a heat issue either as had a desk fan blowing on the Gen6 today and it still stepped on layer 4 damn annoying and mechanically everything is fine, so time to finish the sanguino boardby NelsonRap - General
Uninteruptable power supply, it is used to allow computers to be shut down in the event of a power cut and also evens out power surges. My power tools do the same if I use them on the same electrical circuitby NelsonRap - General
I have seen a heated aluminium joiner on thingiverse somewhere I think that someone made to join all their small bits together been meaning to make one but not got around to itby NelsonRap - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hmm could be I do remember disabling that on the original desktop and the screensaver. I have done the screensaver on this new computer but forgot about the power saving function on ports will have to have a lookby NelsonRap - General
