Ordered there last month and its perfect ABS for a good price. The roll of 5 kg is a bit difficult to handle so I've split it up in smaller batches. Sorry for the english, typing is one bridge to far for my basic german skills.by unfold - Altes Forum
Do a quick search for ceramics here and you'll find more discussions. Suspending ceramics in some hardening fluids is not something new. In the end its the same as the age old ceramics techniques but instead of fancy epoxy they use.... water The clay particles are suspended in water, this dries until it has sufficient strength to hold its green state shape. At last it is sintered, the material iby unfold - General
Yes, its not like in the graphic business where the answer always is: Adobe! (well if you are die hard: Inkscape, Gimp!) The 3d world is scattered and there is a lot to chose from and while i do have lots of experience in 3d visualization I struggle with the same problems when deciding what too chose as a Cad app. I am afraid nobody will be able to give you a definite answerby unfold - 3D Design tools
Babelfish translate! The main driving force behind all reprap electronics is Zach Smith (correct no?) co-founder of Makerbot. So not so strange that makerbot is on the frontlines concerning use of gen 3 electronics. And unfortunatly the only source at the moment. Actually I think you can safely use Gen2 electronics. Arduino Mega is easy to get and the other parts are more widespread too. At theby unfold - Reprappers
In that case I would just build the machine and do the electronics in the end no?by unfold - General
Quick lookup/followup: -Gen. 3 electronics IS THE SAME as Makerbot electronics -reprapsource.com seams to be providing gen.2 electronics = If you want GEN3 you will need to get the Makerbot bits. Gen 2 is more commenly availableby unfold - General
You only want to know the differences of the electronics or the whole machine? The Rapman has only a single PCB which has afaik room for one extra extruder. The generation 3 electronics used in RepRap and Makerbot are more modular using an Arduino like system. The RapMan electronics work standalone, you pop in an SD card with Gcode and print, The others I dont know if you can do standalone, onlyby unfold - General
Hi Bo, This is always the dilemma and similar to the chicken egg problem, RepRap's main goal is to design a machine that can replicate itself. This leads to an ever increasing amount of parts for which you need... A RepRap. The theory is that anyone with a reprap should print two sets for anyone willing to build one. But this system is not yet working because it is no trivial task to print a comby unfold - Reprappers
This depends on how you plan to build one. Does your university have a 3d printer on which you can print all RP parts for free? That would take out most of the problems and costs. Whats left is 300-400€ in hardware and electronics as far as I understand. You could look at the makerbot shop, there you can buy most of the electronics and an extruder.by unfold - General

Hi Nophead, I am moving to a spares bottom layer/dense top layer too because I found too many lines of the first object layer sinking in between the top layers lines with standard Skeinforge settings.by unfold - RepRap Host
OK, the BfB electronics kit is not the same as the Gen 3 RepRap electronics. Its a completely standalone solution. Totally separate solutions.by unfold - General
All parts are acrylic and yes, better post to the BfB forum There is a wiki page which shows the correct assembly of the extruder. See the user submitted notes on the manual page.by unfold - Reprappers
Interesting discussion, I like the idea of the raft following more the outline of the object. The raft is indeed a huge waste of material, any savings there would help. I have printed around small 60 parts without raft, with the necesarry tuning and good condition of the bed you get nice results. I like the smooth finish of raftless prints. I have 5kg too and it sucks With a lot of patience I unwound 1kg on a new roll. Problem is that there is a lot of springy tension on the smaller roll (sorry my english). When I have time I'll look at making an MDF box with a spindle for 5 kg.by unfold - General

Hi, We have a BitsfromBytes Rapman here at our studio and love every bit of it. The electronics are not compatible wit the reprap as opposed to the makerbot which uses the same electronics. The Rapman has a single standalone board controlling the whole machine from an sd card. On the other hand the machine from BitsfromBytes is mechanically much closer to the RepRap and thus a larger build area.by unfold - General

Was talking to soon, looks like the object has some strange forms in it, my skeinforge settings give the same errors. But my perimeter is further from the infill, gives better results on my machine. Actually my parameters are pretty close to what you posted on the BfB skeinforge thread a while ago.by unfold - Skeinforge
So I did overwrite my previous settings when downloading the new version. Why are the settings and profiles actually saved in the .skeinforge folder? Is this a standard Linux/Unix way of doing it? Why not save them in the Skeinforge folder itself? On osx DOT folders are invisible so that makes them hard to use. On the other hand it does make sense to have version independent place to store your pby unfold - Skeinforge
Weird, i have very undesirable results with this settings.... Is it possible that they get mixed with previous parameters in .skeinforge folder? I'm using yellow abs but I never had much difference with the blue and red that I used opposed to white ABS.
