My custom printer ( highly modified Mendel) uses a Rambo 1.3 board successfully using Marlin 1.1.9-bugfix. I wish to upgrade to Marlin 2.1.2.2. When I try to flash the firmware I get the error
"avrdude:stk500v2_ReceiveMessage():timeout". I checked that my baudrate was set to 115200 on COM3 (works on 1.1.9-bf). I used VSCode / PlatformIO clean, then build, and then upload. Clean is good, as is

Firmware - Marlin
My bad. On further checking, Marlin is generating the matrix, and Pronterface is just reporting what Marlin is sending it. The problem is in Marlin. Discovered by enabling "#define DEBUG_LEVELING_FEATURE" in Marling Configuration.h, and then issuing "M111 S32" from Pronterface and then running G29. A detailed report to Pronterface shows Marlin is the culprit.

I load the gcodes to the microSD on my WinXP SP3 PC. The folks at Think3DPrint3D suggest I use a plain Sandisk SD, not an SDHC, and never a Kingston. We shall see.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Using Panelolu with Sanguinololu 1.3. All is well except files on the sd are displayed as folders rather than files. I too get the garbage display but I think my ribbon cable is too long as well as unshielded. Any thoughts on what I did wrong with the sd reader?
