Quoteanimoose A follow up to an earlier post: if you want to see what I mean by the RAMPS board being horrible, look at this picture: [2.bp.blogspot.com]. We've switched vendors and our new ones are also color coded. We are pretty happy with them, I don't know what happened with our previous vendor but the soldering was starting to get pretty sloppy towards the end it seems.by Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteanimoose I'm going to start on the electronics soon, and have been unpacking the boards. The quality of the RAMPS board is really horrible.. We've switched vendors in the past week due to this issue bring brought to our attention. We order thousands at a time so even QC'ing them some slip through our fingers. Email me and I will get you a replacement, even if you just keep it as a spare. &by Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteanimoose My construction continues. I am on step 10 (the Z carriage). This is physically the hardest step so far, in getting the bearings into the printed parts and in getting the Z carriage to the suggested size of 300mm. I found it hard to get one of the bearings in the extruder carriage to lie flat. I know I knocked some balls out of the LM8UU bearing when I fitted it, though it still seeby Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteJoeH Hey guys, I ordered a Folger Tech 2020 i3 Prusa from ebay last Thursday, along with 2 spools of filament. The seller is asidewinderinc, I was just wondering if this is Folger tech's ebay store? or if they are affiliated in some way? This is our eBay store. Sorry for the delay I didn't realize John had listed the kit on eBay and I am trying to get them all caught up now! Don't worry itby Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteTenny sent the Z to home and as it got close to home I suddenly heard a pop and my computer shut down Tenny, this is usually caused by an Endstop being plugged in backwards, once the switch gets activated it shorts out the board. I am not saying that is what happened, just giving you something else to look at. Quotego_gn What is the weight and dimensions of a packed kit? Quoteanimoose ... or not. I got the filament today, but with the tracking number for the printer kit. Sorry bud! We are trying to get them out today we are 1 person short this week (not your problem though) and we are struggling to keep up with the printed parts while we wait for the ones from Crunch. QuoteDevil Inc Dan/John. I'm having issues with the side mounted spool. The extruder is 'slipping' trying to pull the filament once it gets tight with the spool. I had a jam because of it. If I can source a piece of 20/20 quickly, I'm going to relocate the spool up top similar to the OG i3 users to see if removing the side load helps. Just an observation I'm noticing. Quotemarkts And those sneaky people at Folger Tech printed the mailing label for the printer Monday night, but didn't ship it yesterday. Looks they shipped my filament and it will be here today though. Monday was a holiday, no UPS or USPS. If we were really sneaky, we would have found a way to ship it. >Dby Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
I am not sure why but I cannot edit the original post anymore. Here is the updated Google Drive link with the latest Build Guide, Firmware, .STL files, and anything else you will need along the way. I am still not 100% done with the guide but all that is left now is wire clean up and routing which honestly usually comes down to personal preference anyway. I am exporting it to a .PDF now, the original document is almost 700mb so it takes a bit of time. I will upload it ASAP.by Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotemottihoresh I ran into an issue where the belt wasn't tight enough so i printed few belt tensioners, You should have gotten 2 belt tension springs with your kit. I am sorry if you were missing them but if you shoot us an email we can always send you some. The printed ones are nice but ours are metal and won't break as easy. Great first prints! I am finalizing the guide now. Technically yoby Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Guys, I should have the build guide finished today, including the end stop mounting. Can you be more specific on the screws that were missing so I can make sure that future kits don't have them missing. Was it with the end stops? Since the guide isn't finished you wouldn't know but the end stop uses a mix of sizes depending on which end stop is being mounted. >Dby Dan_FolgerTech - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Guys, With the first pre-orders of our new 2020 i3 printer kit shipped and already arriving in the hands of our customers, I wanted to get this thread started. The build guide should be up today and I will continue to update this post with new information, troubleshooting tips, and any issues that might arise from the first kits shipped. Deguello, we are going to be offering the aluminum corners for around $48 and shipped from the US. The ones I have right now are not anodized so they are just plain aluminum. Hey Guys, I just wanted to comment to Vanbot. I try to pop in here when I can but we have been so overwhelmed that I haven't had as much of an opportunity lately and for that I apologize. We are working on a FAQ page on the website, an updated build guide, and possibly forums of our own! QuoteDRobs86 I can say that I do believe that Dan intends to run a clean company, but has probably had more success than anticipated. I wish I had a business with that problem. Thanks! Quotedooms101 Looks like your prints are coming along, 4.5hrs without a hiccup sounds great! Perhaps my modifications were too much? Quotethejollygrimreaper Quotepbrstreetgang That's the problem with importing filament from China. When you get a bad batch, it costs more to ship it back. So you're stuck with it. You should've just ate the cost instead of pawning it off on unsuspecting clients. But, that's what you get with this kind of people. You're a true capitalist Danny. That's harsh, though we do import some items we also try to source a majority of it through US small business where we can.
