I am also thinking about the mass of GT2 belt. A thin wire may have much less mass than the belt. I am also thinking in lines of the core x/y design, that has very long sections of belt. Also, does the belt have more stretch when the printer is enclosed in an enclosure that heats everything up. There was somebody that was using the plastic packing strap for belt, because it had very little stretcby Easy - Developers
In many designs using GT2 belt, only a section of the belt is actually driven by a toothed pulley. The rest of the belt just connects the loop. I am wondering if there is non-stretchable GT2 belt substitute material that could be used on a GT2 belt section that does not need teeth. That way the possible stretch of a GT2 belt could be minimized. So the belt substitute material and a method to attaby Easy - Developers

The USB socket in your computer has probably gone bad. USB is great for your MP3 player, thumb drives, ect.. but when it comes to operating a piece of machinery that moves and vibrates and needs constant contact with the host, it is not robust enough. You can file a Provisional Patent Application. You do not need to go into great detail or submit detailed art with a Provisional application. It just puts a time stamp on your submission, that costs about $100.00 (a few years ago, maybe more or less now). The Patent office will hold this application for one year, and it is your "foot in the door", from which you can file for a patent from the prby Easy - General
Quotednguyenai598 Does anyone have suggestion for cooling the three stepper motors and the RAMP board? Seems to get pretty off after an hour of printing, about 140 degree F. Quotemikez104 One question maybe someone can help me with. When I print very small parts and the print head spends a long time in the same area, I get distortion from melting. Quotejrcaster As far as the range to use on the multimeter, it should have either a 2 or 4 volt range. DC, not AC Harbor Freight has some digital volt meters. If you get coupons, you probably have some for a free meter. For the red meter from HF, you want to select 2000m or 200m on the DC scale (2.000 or .200 volts DC). You want your red probe plugged into the V^mA socket. The black probe inby Easy - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteron22 QuoteAnyone use any LM8uu linear bearing alternatives? The ones included lose balls like crazy and are the crunchiest bearings I've ever seen. QuoteZavashier Well, it's not a design fact. It's beacause of the machining process. Laser cutter cannot cut in a straight line because of diffraction and/or diffusion of the laser beam. That makes the profile a bit taped. I discovered this when I tried to square the acrylic frame. When ever I tightened the screws that hold the triangular vertical supports, the main frame panel would bend causiby Easy - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteOhmarinus I just couldn't help but notice a comment by 'mikez104'. It is about acrylic frames and I completely agree, the frames are completely stupid. Quotemikez104 The last thing I found is that when everything was all back together, one side of the frame was a little up in the air.
