Ok, so earlier today i had a well calibrated and perfectly working prusa I3 based 3D printer running from a ramps 1.4 board. It was great and i was very happy with it. However, it was running a very old version of marlin and i wanted to update it to get all the new sweet features. The update was going great i calibrated the steps per unit and printed my first test cube. I saw that the dimensionsby TERMINAL - Mechanics
50% when i'm testing. Update : for some reason a 40min print turned out just fine at 50% speed. Tried the same thing before but it had issues. It seem to be working fine now... i don't know....by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
It stops, but moving it takes very little force.by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
All i did was turn the current down so the motor only vibrates and doesn't move, and then turned it up just enough so it would start turning again.by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
It's not the friction. When i move it i hear the smooth motor sound just fine. When i noticed it started skipping i touched the motor and it was terribly hot just like before. It just took longer this time. I'm 100% sure that the bed is setup correctly and the motion is fine, only the motor heating up is the problem.by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
Hey, I've got a problem again The amperage fixed it but only for some time. Small prints will work, but larger ones, that are like 30mins+ will overheat the motor again and start skipping. Anything else i can try?by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
Yup, that fixed it! I just adjusted the amperage. First print pretty much a sucsess!! Thank you all for the help! Peterby TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
Ok, i figured out what was wrong. I have a display on my prusa and apparently it was pulling too much current, blocking the serial communication. I disconnected the display and it worked fine. My printer is now a few callibrations away from printingby TERMINAL - Prusa i3 and variants
Yes, i am using RAMPS 1.4. The whole board is a Base V1.2 So i should just spin the screw marked Y counterclokwise? I talked to a friend and he suggested fixing a small pc fan to the side of the motor. Good idea? Anyways, i'll try lowering the amperage tomorrow(it's getting late) and i'll keep you updated. Thank you all very much for the help. This is the best support i've had on a forum for quiby TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
The overheating might be the problem then because when i leave the printer be for 15 minutes and then go to print i works just fine but as i sad after some time (i guess when the motor heats up) it starts skippingby TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
The pulley isn't slipping but the motor seem pretty hot... The hotbed is moving over it so i guessed that would be the cause. How can i fix this?by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
It seems to make no difference as fas as i can tell.. I changed this line in the code #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {3000,3000,100,10000} to this #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {3000,1500,100,10000} and then to this #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {3000,800,100,10000} and it made no difference. after a few layers it just starts skipping againby TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
Thank you for the reply. I'll change the acceleration, and keep you updated on the result.by TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
So i built a prusa i3. Everything works well enough all the axis move fine, and the print starts off fine. But about 5ish minutes in to the print my bed Y axis starts skipping. The belt isn't slipping, i know that much, but for some reason after 5 minutes the bed just keeps stopping every turn and throws the print off. I dont' know if anyone has experienced this or if they can help me. Could it bby TERMINAL - General Mendel Topics
Hello. First time poster I have bought and built a Prusa I3 from ebay I tried following the instructions i found online to upload the correct firmware, but as it turns out, i can't. I keep trying to upload the Marlin software but the arduino throws the timeout error at me every time.. avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout avrdude: stk500v2_Receby TERMINAL - Prusa i3 and variants
Do you have access to the firmware? The stock firmware?by TERMINAL - Prusa i3 and variants
Hello. I bought the prusa i3 kit from ebay and built it. The process was a bit teidious since the seller didn't provide correct instructions. (The instructions were for a model with different parts) But it turned out allright in the end. I tried uploading the marlin firmware but i can't. The arduino IDE has trouble communicatig with the board for some reason. (times out) If anyone has a fix pleaby TERMINAL - Prusa i3 and variants
