Forget about the PITA bowden setup and go with a REAL Titan extruder, pancake stepper, and E3D hotend. It will handle 1.75 mm no problem and even the Volcano hot end. And it's light weight.by tjnamtiw - CoreXY Machines
Quotemarkag I knew there had to be a solution. I wasn't sure if I could pull power from an external source, or if it had to come from the RAMPS board. I already have a hacked up cell phone charger from a different arduino project that I may look at using. Yep, it will work. Just plug it into any one of the other spots on that series of pins. Just MAKE SURE to take of the jumper that should beby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotemarkag I apologize if this has already been discussed... I've added a bltouch to my 2020 i3 printer. I also have the full size LCD on the printer. I've noticed that if I run the printer untethered from a USB connection, my LCD flickers when the bltouch probe is extending or retracting, and the auto bed leveling doesn't work. If I plug in the USB cord to my raspberry pi or PC, I don't haveby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
That's a huge problem with most of the Chinese machines. It may not seem like it at first but pretty soon you'll want to fine tune things and you can't without taking some more advanced steps to install a bootloader and start over with the firmware. If they just supplied the machine with the ability to communicate with Arduino, life would be so much easier. It's not like they are hiding any biby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants

Does it come with a copy of the firmware so you can modify it, such as adding a BLTOUCH or changing the homing double tap speeds or temperature hysteresis checking times?by tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
I don't know if you saw this or even if it is for your printer > I found several links to various ways to rewrite the Marlin. I know the printer was super cheap but if you can't adjust anything or add the BLTOUCH, the board is useless. If it were me, I'd put an Arduino/RAMPS combination in there like my Folger Tech i3 2020 has and write good firmware to it. This might even be more help!by tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
OK, good luck and keep 'playing'. I hate that these Chinese makers don't give out the marlin code. It really helps when you can modify things to solve problems such as changing the times for checking to see if you are up to temperature. Many times they are set too tightly and it will alarm and shut down because the temperature overshoots for even one second more than it's set for. Let usby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
Early on, the general rule of thumb was, no matter your layer height, always make your first layer 0.3mm for a 0.4mm nozzle. That you got right IMHO. It gives you a thicker bead of plastic that stands a better chance of staying hot longer and sticking better. I have never seen a reason to use a brim or a raft in two years of constant printing unless the object has a VERY small footprint. Iby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
After 2 years with my Folger Tech i3 2020, I have to say it was and still is an awesome kit and a great way to learn 3D printing. This forum was a great help back then. QuoteOrigamib I live in the UK where food standards are much higher. In fact, it is illegal to sell pet food that isn't safe for human consumption in this country. Hahaha. I hope your regulating bodies for food safety are better than ours! I doubt they worry too much about pets except for maybe all the Muslim's goats. Here we are worrying about whether PLA is safe to eat yet we buy all these foods from countries with no food safety standards and Congress voted to REMOVE the 'country of origin' labels from all products!!! Had to look that one up on the Urban Dictionary. The topic is like the Energizer Bunny. It's one of those questions that you would expect to see on FaceBook 'forums'. I use the word 'forum' loosely for anything on Facebook since their 'forums' are totally useless.by tjnamtiw - General
This one died a horrible death exactly one year ago so I guess they all are dead!!! Either they died from food poisoning from those glazed glass dishes that have those tiny cracks in the glaze called 'crazing', which trap bacteria, they died from trying to fire their PLA glasses with ceramic glazes at 2000 degrees, or just plain boredom. Double tap is a GOOD thing! The machine is finding HOME so, going slower lets it be more accurate. You can go into configuration advanced settings and adjust the speed and distance for the double tap to make it even better. As to the limit switch mounts, you either have the switches mounted wrong or something changed since I got mine 2 years ago. Well, I am now the proud owner of the new "smart" BLTOUCH! I can't wait to replace my old, trusty Classic BLTOUCH and see what the differences are. In this first photo, and in Joe's photo you can see that the circuit board is very different. There is also a place where you can cut a trace on the circuit board if you need to use 3.3 volts for your motherboard's input. Also in another photo, you'llby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants
QuotePonyTailSteve So here's an update: I calibrated the extruder and the Z-axis .. That's all good, however this gets strange. I printed out a calibration cube (20x20x20) that I downloaded and it measures pretty close. I then created my own 20x20x20 cube and the measurements were much better. You should turn on line numbering in Marlin to make it easier to comment back. Of course, first you must define your x,y, and z_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER. Then you should take away the two \\ from //#define PROBE_DOUBLE_TOUCH and increase #define Z_PROBE_SPEED_SLOW (Z_PROBE_SPEED_FAST / 2) to /5 so the second probe is slower and more precise. You might want to play around with the value of tby tjnamtiw - Prusa i3 and variants

I'm betting that it would be fine if you turned the hot end 90 degrees away from the bearing block. The excuse that the heat break would get too hot IMHO is bogus. Sorry. Just above the heat break is your aluminum block cooled by a large fan-cooled heat sink.
