I have been working on V0.92 firmware for my Zonestar P802M and I am happy to confirm I have got it working however without the LCD and UI at this time. Video of it working: Note that I have not fully tested this yet, and the LCD / Buttons will NOT work with this firmware. I have also configured it using a Inductive proximity sensor (NPN Normally Closed) for z probing and auto bed level runninby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
thanks for the suggestion, I dont think this is it though as the sensor/switch works fine during the probe, also its an NPN sensor so when it triggers the signal is connected to ground and not VCC.by NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
Yes the configuration variables are a bit confusing! Still figuring out what they all do. If you could share your firmware and configuration JimsFlight that would be awesome! Any chance you could pop it onto dropbox or google drive?by NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
Hello all, I have had some success recently with upgrading my Prusa with proximity sensor and enabling Z Probe. The printer now homes > probes the 3 locations and then it hangs and restarts. Anyone seen this behavior before and/or have any ideas what might be wrong? My printer has a Melzi control board, and its running repetier firmware. After probing it is returning the measured z values whiby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteJimsFlight The bad news is that it's not running the positions on the plate. I'd tried editing the Z_PROBE_X1 e.t.c settings but it doesn't seem to change it at all. The G-code I'm running at the start as the print is as follows; G1 Z10; G28 X0 Y0; G1 X140 Y100; G28 Z0; G29; Does anyone know how to change the Z-probing positions, or have a good configuration file I could use? Thanks veryby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
Thanks for the information on page 7 to 9 about adding bed leveling (z probe). Finally after some hurdles I've made progress in that the printer will successfully measure 2 locations. The 3rd point misses the bed, but when I recompile the firmware with new probing locations it doesn't seem to change on the printer? Is this value stored in eprom or something? UPDATE: Yes I found the EPPROM settinby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
I'm also looking at firmware upgrade as I have ordered an inductive sensor for ABL. Thanks for the link, I believe this is the v0.91 firmware configured for the zonestar. I heard v0.92 is recommended for ABL as it addresses various bugs from 0.91. My plan is to load the configuration.h file into the repetier firmware configuration tool on their website, it seems to pick up the configuration fileby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
Thanks for the input, and I will need to give the resistor on the ystop a shot, I have some laying around and I will solder one onto the Ystop yellow wire. I did however find another solution. I figured if the Melzi is powered through the USB lead (by plugging in USB to a computer, and changing the jumper selector to USB on the Melzi) then the printer works perfectly. ISSUE: Screen flickering on Zonestar Prusa / Reboot mid-print. When not printing it is fine, as soon as heated bed is on, extruder on and print in progress, my LCD would flicker and sometimes the printer reboots. POSSIBLE CAUSE: The issue is the 5v step down voltage regulator on the Melzi print control board. When I measured the voltage output of the regulator when not printing it was fine, whenby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
thanks downunder, this is what I suspected. I will investigate the regulator tonight and hope that is the source of the problem. If not I will then look into a seperate or new PSUby NorcoT - Printing
Thanks, I thought 20A was a bit close, if I power the bed from a separate supply I guess it will need its own switch control for the temperature as this is all currently done on the Melzi? I came across another post somewhere else about the same printer and similar LCD problem. He mentions that it was the 5v regulator on the Melzi, which caused his LCD to flicker and occasional reboot. Then someby NorcoT - Printing
thanks for the input imqqmi, the PSU is rated at 12V 20A, I replaced the PSU to Melzi power cables last night with 30A high current wire and checked all the connections. All seem tight and in good contact. Still having problems. It will print first couple of layers without a problem, then the LCD starts flickering again and eventually will crash and reboot. Prints fine with the bed turned off, buby NorcoT - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi guys thanks for the input. So last night I replaced the PSU to Melzi wires with 30A rated cable, a bit thicker than the original cables. Tried printing again, without the bed on it prints fine, LCD flickers occasionally but no problems with the print. When I turn the Bed on for the same print, the first 3 layers or so prints fine, then the LCD starts to flicker even when the printer isnt makby NorcoT - Printing
Hey all, I just posted this in the Prusa i3 sections but in hind sight this is a better place for it, sorry i'm still finding my way around this forum. Last week I received my Prusa i3 (cheap Zonestar with Melzi control board and heated bed). Getting a few decent prints already which is nice but i'm having a problem. When printing sometimes the LCD screen flickers on and off rapidly, the printerby NorcoT - Printing
Hey all, first of all i'm new to this forum so hello, I'm Tony from Scotland, only been printing for 1 day (building printer for 2 days). Purchased my Prusa i3 primarily to print parts for my RC hobby so im not new to electronics / building etc. Last week I received my Prusa i3 (cheap Zonestar with Melzi control board and heated bed).
