Quotesonnylowe Quotepeeejayz I got my leadscrews through today, the nuts have a bit of play in them is this normal? Do I need to antibacklash them? I havn't needed it on the m5 rods yet. I've seen the same issues with all the LS nuts I've bought so far, my guess is they are cheap and out of tolerance, or I've just been unlucky...three times in a row ;-) It's the reason I made the anti-backlashby seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants
Figure I'll share my experience with fixing my excessively hot z motors. I ended up buying some 1.5A 54N-cm motors and writing them in series. The motors barely get warm and same with the driver. The smaller motors should be much stronger and cooler in series. Huge difference.by seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants

Quotejhitesma Thanks for the extruder clearing tips guys. I actually got that clog out of there yesterday fairly easily. Been printing all kinds of little things to test it out tonight. Did a bigger penguin for my daughter - hour and a half print - few minor blemishes but overall very nice. Also tried to do a benchy, but just over 50% of the way through it came off the bed My big problemby seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteMach Quoteseabass07 Anyone know if the single A4988 driver that runs both z axis motors can support two Nema 17's? Is that too much for a single driver? I have never had a problem with it, so I guess it can. Nope. The ones I got are 1.5amps and the A4988 is only rated to 2 max. I should have gotten 1A motors. The driver definitely does not appreciate driving both. Oh well... Now to figureby seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants

I never said throughout a part, but if I'm making a part that has a feature that I want to fit snugly into another or be in a precise place, I'd like that to be possible. It's not really that difficult with care. $300k will buy you way more than you need to hit a .002" tolerance. Keep in mind, we're talking about aluminum and plastics. If there is significant deflection while taking a few thou oby seabass07 - General
Quotewatlooazn Trying to print my first ever calibration cube. When I load the 20 mm cube stl file into the repetier host, click slice, then click print. Nothing happens. All of a sudden the image of the cube disappears. I can see the heat bed temperature rising but the extruder temperature doesn't rise at all (it does but very very slowly). I've already tested my extruder at 230 C so I know iby seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants
If it's gonna cut metal, I don't think belts are the way to go. They're cheap, but will need replacing regularly and will really mess with accuracy. Just my opinion, but if it can't be accurate to within a couple of thousandths, then it's not worth it.by seabass07 - General
Not sure what I did, but I tried to measure the vram and fried a driver. Fortunately, Folger tech supplied an extra one on the board. The usb wouldn't connect at all with the driver plugged in.by seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotetjnamtiw Quotemsaeger Quoteseabass07 Thanks! I'm guessing I need that ceramic screw driver that I've already destroyed. That or a plastic one. Take a piece of filament, straighten it, and sand the end to the shape of a screwdriver. I ground down a piece of plex into a flat head. I have an endless supply of scrap plex. Filament is a great idea too. Thanks.by seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants

Possibly a dumb question, but where exactly do we adjust the vref for the motors? I seem to be missing something very obvious.by seabass07 - Prusa i3 and variants
