Must the power jumper be set to Internal for normal usage? I would like to leave it set to USB power, so that the board stays on when I turn off 12v power. This would allow the board to control an ATX power supply or relay to turn the printer on/off.by pizzachef - Controllers
Quotemfisch New 2020 i3 Build- the short and long of it. The short It's Alive!, needs tweaking. When all else fails threaten to sell it.... Now just tweeks remain! Holy hell! QuoteWilberMaker I am printing blue PLA. nozzle 210deg Bed 70deg and no cooling fan on the part. The bottom couple mm of the part is darker than the rest and is squeezed out like the part is melting. Printing on blue tape and it is almost impossible to get the part off the bed when complete. Is it a bed temp problem, nozzle offset or first layer settings? Quoteanimoose I moved on from the Folger to an Eclips3D CoreXY. It's better and faster, but it still makes me aware of what a good printer the Folger 2020 is. The key, as with the Eclips3D, is a really rigid frame - get that right and many other things become easier. You're only encouraging me more! But good to know the Folger 2020 has a good standing, I need it to make all my new printer partsby pizzachef - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteiamquestar OK, so this has been a long-time promised and an long-time coming. Here's an overview of my most recent work/changes to the printer... Great work! I like the motor/extruder mount. The stock cantilevered motor setup always bothered me, having it over the x-rail seems more balanced. FYI, your amazon link to the sensor goes to the RaspPi kit instead. Funny, my longer term plans arby pizzachef - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteiamquestar I'm ready to share my extruder mount with the world, and will be posting it this week. I've designed it so that the motor sits ABOVE the vslot gantry (more or less), which keeps from having this big weight hanging off the front of the Xaxis, and reclaims some Z height. I have about 175mm of Z height, even with an E3D hotend. I'm printing the DiiiCooler now, but I'm a little coby pizzachef - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteiamquestar Hmm, I forgot that you had mentioned this was only a problem with PETG. So I assume you do not hear the extruder skipping? Unfortunately with the stock hot end, you can't really see the extruder in action. I designed my own mount for the stock extruder and the E3D lite6 for the v-Slot X axis Gantry plate, and the front of the extruder is now open and visible. Quoteav8r1 Is the nozzle maintaining temperature? Are you running a cooling fan? I am running a part cooling fan (a Diiicooler with a blower fan, works great) in addition to the stock hotend fan. I have it turned off for the first 10 layers so it doesn't cool the bed. I'm surprised at how stable the nozzle temp is. It varies a degree up or down while printing. Quoteiamquestar I doubt it's a retraction problem. 1mm is nothing. I was running 4mm with the stock hotend when I switched to a Bowden. (I've since switched back to a direct drive, with a lite6). Due to a bug in Simplify3D I had a retraction happening that was 12mm with the Lite6 and didn't have any problems, although I fixed the issue as soon as I discovered it. I'm having a severe underextrusion problem with PETG. I think its a retraction issue letting the material harden in the cool zone, making it hard to push the filament through. I have not had this problem (yet?) with PLA or ABS. Just prior to this print, I printed a differently shaped object which turned out beautifully. And as you can see, this print started out fine, as did subsequent failed atby pizzachef - Prusa i3 and variants
When viewing the server front end screen the menu button (with three horizontal lines) there is an option for Print Logs. In that option screen, there are two checkboxes. One for "Log Communication When Idle" and the other for "Log Communication When Printing". I will check both of these boxes and then try a test print (will be a few days, not at home this week). Quoterepetier ...If you can enable echo commands in firmware for testing and log communication. Then you should see what we send and what firmware received. I guess it differs when the problem occurs. This would allow further analysis of how to fix it. Thank you for the tip on how to start troubleshooting. I have been successfully printing with Repetier-Host for a few months now with a Folgertech Prusa i3 2020 using Marlin firmware. Just recently I tried to use Repetier-Server to control the printer remotely. Setting up the server went pretty smoothly and I am able to connect to the printer, send commands, execute a print, etc. But my prints have errors where a layer will begin in the wrong locatiby pizzachef - Repetier
Quotetherippa Quick poll - what speed/layer height do you guys usually print with? I'm at 45mm/s and 0.2mm layer height. Edit: Apparently I can print at 90mm/s with no problems. Nice. I have been using your same original settings, 45mm/s and 0.2mm layer height for PLA, but I'm still just starting out. I'm trying some PETG now and I slowed it down to 35mm/s.
