image attached shows the modified stl on the left and the original on the right - now it's clear what's going on, even if I can't work out why that is... slic3r isn't happy with the modified version, and is missing a lot of the triangles - note most of the missing aren't modified triangles... I'll try a few things, see if it helps.by bulwynkl - Slic3r
Hi Folks, posting here and repetier sections. Repetier-host 1.6.2 + slic3r 1.2.9 I'm attempting to print a microscope adaptor - essentially a tube with a flange and some fancy bits at the top. Downloaded the part from thingyverse, prints just fine, but dimensions are off. slice, adjust, make whole and go again... except now the slicing does not work.... either the tube is filled in, or the sby bulwynkl - Repetier

SOLVED: so, I took the offending extruder heater blocks apart just to see what is what... first thermistor almost fell apart in my hands - corroded. Now I know what the problem is.... very thin wire, hard to tin, stiff. resoldered both as robustly as I could, suddenly started working flawlessly... but there is clearly a design improvement possible here....by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
On and off been having issues with the temp sensor in the extruder for this little unit. Pretty sure now it's the thermistor that has either died or developed a break. I'm pretty sure it's a 100K thermistor, but which one? which makes me wonder - is there a parts list for these units? or something resembling a parts list? got to know where to start searching for replacement bits... Or just aby bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi Folks, it's happened again... Symptoms. See the attached image - the error message displayed is.. def / 190oC def / 50oC System starts, preheat PLA, level the bed manually, load filament, print file from SD card. at some point the error occurs and the temperature is no longer controlled, so the bed and extruder stop heating and the extruder stops feeding. the head keeps moving. firstby bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
well ain't that typical.... I searched for a reasonable amount of time for a solution before posting this.. very next hit I looked at was this one, which almost perfectly describes most of my problem... enough that I can start troubleshooting at least... (and references this one too ) I'll see how I go and post an update.by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi Folks, bit lost for places to start diagnosing this one... ZoneStar (2015 model) printer - set up as per rather amusing instructions and using provided firmware. A few teething issues but OK. (TBH I looked at the custom firmware configurator - no idea where to start eliminating options) Set it to run a rather large print - 5-7 days at 0.1mm layer height. 3/4 of the way through the extruby bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
SD card follow up - one small piece of card added to the back of the micro SD card and suddenly it's acting all coy and working as though nothing was ever wrong... (FYI, don't anthropomorphise machines, they don't like it...) thanks for the helpby bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Thanks phisik, JimsFlight - I'll add that to the list of things to try before desoldering and swearing and resoldering and swearing again and reresoldering the SD card reader...by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all, Did you ever discover the root cause of this problem? I've been facing exactly the same symptoms. Melzi 2 (ZoneStar Melzi_V3B - chinese origin) Repetier 0.91 8GB SDHC FAT32 Worked out of the flatpack, started to notice a few failures to mount the SD card a few weeks ago and over the weekend - long print - it lost the SD card and now won't mount it at all. tried an old 4GB SD card wby bulwynkl - Mendel90
thanks Dust, I figured there would be something that identifies the hardware, beyond a name... glad (and bemused) that it's as simple as a single number... now to solve my actual problem... (SD card seems to have stopped working)by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi Folks, I'm trying to get a handle on what I have - as much to facilitate troubleshooting as anything else - and getting nothing but confusion... I have a P802M. controller board is listed as a Zonestar Melzi V3B questions: when I google Melzi there only seem to be v 1 and v 2 boards... what's the story there? is there a support resource and or schematics for the v3B board? Or is it reallyby bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Follow up on SD card. Reformatted the card, still not working. In hindsight, it's been a bit flaky recently... Several times had to reboot to get the card recognised. Faulty board? Is there a board layout, spec, etc around?by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
I solved this by moving the motor coupling (the other end) up as high as I could and still get a good grip. Even then, there is a bit of play because the top hole is slightly big.by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi Folks, been printing with one of these for little while, experimenting, slowly... Just had the printer stop mid-print unable to read the SD card. Card mounts and reds OK on my computer but the printer won't mount it. Tried booting with and without. any suggestions where I start troubleshooting this?by bulwynkl - Prusa i3 and variants
