Hey all, attached is a jpeg of a dimensioned block that I printed to check for accuracy. It measures 1 x 2 x .250 inches. (1) hole at .500, (1) hole at .100 and a square hole at .500 x .500. Picture shows before and after dimentions. Can you study the differences and suggest some settings changes? I'm running the cheap Aurora Z-605 printer with Repetier and Slic3r. 1.75 filament, .4 nozzle at .3by elwood127 - Reprappers
Hey all, just read a post about repairing a usb connector torn off of a Melzi board. I was trying to figure out what size cable end it took. It is a (USB 2.0 Male to MINI-B 5 PIN male). I found the 10 ft. extension cable at Mycablemart.com. The link to the 10 ft cord is . $6.00 shipped.by elwood127 - Reprappers
On mine I had to go into "Printer Settings" and change my "Baud Rate" to 115200. Until then I had no communication. Once in a while I have to restart my pc with the printer turned on to get the port driver to load. Goog luck.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Nice job Morris. I'm going to build that.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Just a note. My instructions said to mount the Y endstop at left/front corner. Turned out that it should have been the left/back corner.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I bought one and it was a pain in the a%*. Terrible instructions to put it mildly. BUT, I learned so much and am printing beautiful parts now. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything. They are the perfect vehicle for noobies to learn the basics which you wouldn't get if it worked perfectly out of the box. Thanks to the members here that gave me the info to get the kit working. If you need helpby elwood127 - Reprappers
Hey all, it appears that the acrylic framed Prusa i3 $400.00 printers are becoming more popular lately. I finally got the nerve to upgrade to a 1.75 filament hotend. I bought a $19.95 (shipped) hotend from aliexpress. For you with this printer and similar desires here is how it went. I drew and printed an adjustable endstop bracket which made Z home adjustment a breeze. New hotend was about 1/2"by elwood127 - Reprappers
Hey all, my acrylic framed Prusa i3 assembly screws were all loose. Not a bunch, about a quarter turn. You may want to check your machines.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I think we need a section covering cold zone cooling. I added this 40x40x20mm fan (see pic) and haven't had a jam since. Cools the motor extremely well. Good luck.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Safe to say that most of us here are of the type (smartest guy in the room). We love the technicallity of things. Buying a $400.00 kit was both exciting and terrifying. My kit had the worst instructions ever. Thanks to Google and this site for guidance. On that note, had my kit worked out of the box I wouldn't have learned so much so soon. Getting my first pretty dammed good print was like discovby elwood127 - Reprappers
Don't know enough about code to know if there is something I'm missing as far as calibration but I assume (being fairly new to this) that like I most people position their build plate (to the nozzle) after z home endstop has been engaged. Leveling 4 corners and all. Am I wrong about that guys?by elwood127 - Reprappers
Well, that pretty much confirms that oiling the idler bearing was a bad idea. Live and learn. Like my father in-law says, why would you make the same mistake twice when there are so many new ones to make. Thanks guys. P.s. Every time I say guys I wonder if I'm dissing any gals residing here. Are there ladies amongst us?by elwood127 - Reprappers
Using our printers every day, what might be a standard time frame for replacing belts and pulleys? Mine has about 4 months on it and is still doing well. Thoughts?by elwood127 - Reprappers
Thanks guys, in my zeal to keep things lubed I put a drop on my y axis idler bearing, guess what happened. Cleaned everything with alchohol and tightened up y belt and all is good now. Thanks for the input.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Hang in there man. I have the Aurora Z-605. Until I added a fan to cool filament where it enters nothing worked right. Haven't had a clog since. Good luck.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I'm printing ABS. On all but the large surface print the Elmers has been remarkable. You should all try it.by elwood127 - Reprappers
Hey all, only 2 days after bumping up my movement speeds I'm getting misalignments half way through my prints. Not all prints. Yesterday it was an offset of about 1/10th inch. Thought it was a slice error so I rotated part 90 degrees and resliced and part printed great. This part (see pic) misaligned a good half inch. Could this be a belt slipping? Belt and tension seem ok. Thanks.by elwood127 - Reprappers
That's what we all said with Win 98 and 2000 and here we are again. What are you gonna do.by elwood127 - General
Are any of you familiar with this system? What are your impressions?by elwood127 - General
Is your drawing watertight? After you slice can you see any weirdness in that spot?by elwood127 - Printing
Just a follow up question, is tempered glass preferred? My window glass shattered today when abs part cooled. The force is amazing.by elwood127 - Printing
Well said Jag, you and Dust have reminded me that love or hate MS they changed us for the better. $125.00 every five years for the privelege of learning what we've learned via computers. Pretty cheap entertainment. Thanks to you both.by elwood127 - General
My temp readout which normally swings below and above set temp is all of a sudden stuck around 200 @ 240 setting. Printing fine so hotend must be getting to temp. Bad thermistor? Thanks.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I just shouted out the awesomeness of elmers purple glue stick on another post. Just went to release this part from cooled glass. Dug under edge of part and glass snapped in two. Surface area of part was about 4x5. It does stick!by elwood127 - Reprappers
Do yourself a favor Willy. Master the stock setup and then dabble in new setups. Hang on to the 1.75, you'll get to use it soon enough. I just ordered my 1.75 hotend. 3mm setup is working so well now that I'm almost affraid to try it. Brian.by elwood127 - Reprappers
I glued 2 pieces of 1/4" by 1/2" .080 (I think ) plastic to the bottom of my motor mount to close the gap at the z endstop switch. Got me close enough to adjust bed hieght properly. When I added glass to bed I removed one piece.I also had to mount the y axis endstop at the back not the front to get that working right. Search "Bad Printed Parts" here to see how I got around binding of feed screwsby elwood127 - Reprappers
Hey Willy, I have no bumping at all now. Fan is everything. Also, today I jumped in feet first into speed settings in Slic3r. For ABS I'm at 240 and 100c with these speed settings. Perimeters-70mm Small Perimeters-30mm External Perimeters-70% Infill-100mm Solid Infill-90mm Top Solid Fill-80mm Those are the only ones I've changed so far. Had to back off slightly after initial bump up to 100mm, extby elwood127 - Reprappers
I was looking at the Pico, seemed like a cool piece. You may be melting above the hot zone. Maybe a cooling fan where filament enters extruder. Made all the difference on my machine but I don't have a bowden tube in the way. Good luck.by elwood127 - Reprappers
