Quotemadmike8 I'm not sure most of the problems are from the kits themselves, but rather from completely inexperienced people building them. Nothing wrong with that either, as I see them asking and learning as they go, and helping others along the way. ^ this combined with pretty poor instructions that leave a lot for the person building it to figure out on their own. I liked that aspect becauseby mel0n - Reprappers
Yeah I had been curious about why they were in this forum myself haha. I dont personally care. * OH its cuz it was started by Folger Tech. I.E. an easy way to advertise their new kits. instead of posting in less viewed specific forums, just post in a high traffic general forum to get more exposure to your product. Makes sense.by mel0n - Reprappers
right? im curious as to why a folger tech specific forum doesnt exist somewhere with them being such a popular kit/option.by mel0n - Reprappers
"I do see the green LED come up and goes off (lasts for a second)." I assume your talking about the LED on the power supply. Are you plugged in and getting power from the power supply? Are your mains correctly connected? What kind of USB port are you plugging the arduino into? Typically an led turning on then off right away indicates a lack of current. Hmmm this sounds really strange, I am not sure exactly how to troubleshoot that. When you click on directions do the motors make noise but not move?by mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotejessiebeman Step 10 when I connect the printer to rep host it says I should see a data log at the bottom, Nothing is there. So I cant find anything that says or explains the relevance of the data log at the bottom, nor do I know if it really needs to be there or not. So I continue on and I have no luck manually controlling the printer. When I press the home buttons for xyz on rephost they jby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotejessiebeman Ok my bad. The motors shut down when the end stops are reached. I thought that homing was specific coordinates in the code telling the motors where to place the axis's. But that's the only function that works. For instance if z axis moves too far down I have to unwire it and wire it backwards and press the home key again to get it to move in the other direction. Do you have a link to those belt tentioners? They look really useful!by mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Hmm doesnt look quite as good as my first prints. I would say get your Z end stop perfect. Start in the middle of the plate, and get your hot end so close in the home position that it lightly drags on a piece of paper. Then move it to each corner and use the screws in the bed to make them all that same distance from the hot end. Then move it to the middle and double check/make slight adjustmentsby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey guys, I decided to give e-squizo's fan shroud a try. It's a bit too short for our extruder so I made a modified version that works perfectly on our printer. It supplies a steady stream of horizontal air right below the hot end. Let me know what you guys think, or how it works for you. Even using the original one that was too short made a huge difference in my printers ability to print theby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
try homing the x axis first. I found all mine do that until I home them. Its like the printer doesnt know where they are, and it doesnt want to push them in the wrong direction, or considers them already at max value until you show it where home is. Hope that helps! 1. Oh and if you click home and it starts going the opposite direction of the end stop click emergency stop right away otherwise iby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
I just got home and since it went too far last time i bumped down my rounding 96.9828 to 97 down to 96. Ran the 100mm test again and got EXACTLY 99.995mm which is good enough for me and is small enough to breath on the calipers and get that reading haha. Just got everything set up and started my first big print (1 hour long) that isnt a hollow test cube haha. Once I get stuff more dialed in I migby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
I haven't got them dialed in perfectly yet since I didn't want to waste the sample filament just extruding it. I ran 1 calibration attempt while I was home for lunch but need to fine tune it further as its all I had time for. The default Esteps value is 90. I noticed both with the sample filament and the new stuff that that number is low. at 90 Esteps I requested 100mm and got 92.8mm so my new eby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey guys, got my kit on Saturday morning and pulled an all-nighter putting it together. The instructions were a bit challenging to follow at times and a lot of things required reassembly. I also didnt fully tighten anything down until I had to or was happy with where it was at. I got lots of spare parts which came in really handy. Especially the extra 2 linear bearings, since after assembling theby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
Read through the entire thread, some interesting developments/problems so far! I have been following RepRap and 3D printers for a couple years now trying to decide what I wanted to do. Eventually settled on this one and ordered from their site today! I live in NH so the idea of supporting a 3D printer company that is local(or at least within the same state) seemed like a good idea and its hard toby mel0n - Prusa i3 and variants
