Quotemarkts Mine still looks a lot like that! lol. Nothing obviously wrong that I can see, except isn't one of those connections to the RAMPs board supposed to be inverted? I don't recall all of the connectors going in the same direction (despite what the instructions say). I'll go look at mine. I think it depends on the config in the firmware too - nothing to worry about yet. I have a quesby LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
i figured out my problem with the plastic warping on the initial layers. Increased the scale by 20% and made the first ten layers solid. Not sure if the 20% was necessary or not but I think the solid layers probably were the real fix. Anyway, I managed to exceed the z dimensions as currently configured. Can anyone suggest the best way to slice the top off the stl file so I can print it and gluby LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotetherippa QuoteLancelotL So I am attempting to print the t-rex skull which is one of the more popular things to download from Thingiverse. The model looks amazing but I am running into a few snags. It's not a simple geometry like my prior prints and there are a lot of complex curves and angles. Quotetherippa Quotetjnamtiw I got to test out my cooling fan shroud for the X axis motor over the weekend. Before I had it mounted, the motor would typically run 135 F as measured with a surface pyrometer. Now with the fan running, after 1 1/2 hours of intense movement , it's staying at 90 F! That gives me some piece of mind. Yeah, if your x-axis motor is too hot, you have your driver's volby LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteMrfus So sad... while doing all the wiring i found that the termistor on the hot end it's dead...I had the same issue. Let the good folks at Folger know and they will send a replacement. The crimp at the thermistor sleeve cut the thermistor lead on mine. I was actually able to solder them back together for a few days so I didn't have to wait for the replacement to get printing. QuoteSpam It all worked out, and despite a few problems I feel this is a good DIY kit. The reason I bought a kit was to really understand the inner workings, and so far I am not disappointed... It definitely takes some work to setup these things properly, and these kits are not for the mechanically disinclined. Here's my favorite. This one didn't need any supports. Happy Halloween!by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
Though you guys might like to see this. I am learning the ins and outs of support material. They weren't perfect for the helmet but they don't have to be. Some were a little thin and it took me awhile to figure out how to properly attach them at the base. Sorry I don't have shots of the helmet before I took the supports out. Pulling them off was a piece of cake. I may do this one again at hby LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteMach QuoteLancelotL Very impressed. I have everything calibrated and tweaked. This is my largest and most complicated print yet. The detail is fantastic. That is pretty sweet. The overhangs that make up the eye sockets look really good too. What layer height did you use? Thanks! I used 0.25 mm. I had some odd gaps between filaments at the honeycomb holes on the very top of the skull.by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants

QuoteLancelotL if anyone can offer any suggestions on how to fix my mirror image issue I would appreciate it. I am going to try reversing a few things to see how it goes. Ok I guess it would have helped if I had implemented all of the changes - lol. All good now.by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants

Quotetjnamtiw QuoteTenny Ok I got it fixed. So if you keep the cables wired as they are in the manual this will fix it: Change the following in configuration.h #define INVERT_X_DIR true to #define INVERT_X_DIR false #define X_HOME_DIR -1 to #define X_HOME_DIR 1 With the printer off PHYSICALLY move the x-axis stopper to the left one set of pins (this makes it so it's the x max instead of x-miby LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotetjnamtiw QuoteLancelotL I used the honeycomb infill on the right and made some other refinements - mich nicer finish than the one on the left. Absolutely! That was the ticket! How did they measure? The dims are perfect. The iPhone case fit like a glove. I still need to adjust my bed about 1 mm on one corner though.by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants

QuoteNeverdone I updated my slic3r to the latest version they have on their website, 1.2.9 Stable, and have been able to print again. But still some things are not printing the software will slice then immediately say stopped working, and if I try to put multiple items on the bed to print, it will freeze and crash the software. I'm running ABS - I've been increasing the temp from the default 230 and everything was looking better except the top. Tomorrow I'll try ramping the temp down to see what happens. Everything is looking really good on my calibration cube after the belt tensioner and extruder calibration. Having a tough time getting the top layer smooth though. It's kind of saggy in places. Is that a temperature issue?by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants

Ok thanks, it's feeding the right way now. It feeds for about 200 mm before it gets stuck. I'm guessing I need to adjust the feed/flow rate. What's the difference between the two?by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
Hello. I have managed to patch my broken thermistor while I await the replacement. I can now get the extruder up to temp and I am working on printing my first object but my extruder motor does not appear to be working. Got everything moving in the right direction and looks like the drivers came pre-tuned so now I'm just waiting on my new hot end. Can't wait to get started!by LancelotL - Prusa i3 and variants
