Hey, has being a while that I don't check the forum... my printer is running like a champ, to the point that I'm thinking to get second one just for the fun!!! I still do the manual bed leveling process after 5 to 10 prints or if I remove the glass to clean it and prepare surface to do some big print... but today I was looking online and i found the BLTouch sensor, did some of you have any experby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
Thanks for the info, I'm already working on the modifications of the Marlin Firmware and I will tomorrow work on the modifications of the arm to fit the small servo that I got for it (HXT500). I have a question, I will install a small microswitch to use at the end of the probe, if I'm correct I need to unplug the Z endstop and connect the microswitch, I will be connecting only the C and NC legsby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
Has been a while since I posted or read the thread, and now it's 169 pages looooong!! I moved to my own house and now my i3 has a permanent home on my studio room, recalibrated the bed by hand and do a excellent print to test if all was running fine after the whole ordeal of moving and packing in and out... I'm not sure if someone else already talked about this subject here at the forum or if I'm posting on the right area but I was just wondering what are your thoughts about the current situation of the 3D printing market (focusing on the desktop market). I'm looking to do the autolevel thing on my printer (I'm going for the moving little arm holding the switch one because I have glass)... Finally I'm done with the cooling fan! Not sure if it helps or not but it blows a stream of air to the extruder nozzle, in a theoretical way should help to cool down the PLA that it's just extruded and help to stop the sagging on areas where there is overhanging... If you are interested I will link the STL file, I tried to print it as one single object but there was too much interference oby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteSlaghton Ah thanks, not sure how I missed those stl's. I downloaded some other batch. I saw your modification . I might have to look into it if it reduces vibration/increases print quality =). Here's my most recent print even with my heavy vibration for my bearing holders being loose. (the band artifact was caused by me pressing my finger lightly against a rattling bearing) P.S. QuoteTollBoothWilly HI. I just finished assembling my printer 2 days ago and have had fun printing a few things. I did calibrate the axis, but have done no other tuning. All of the settings are the default set in the config guide and presets from Folger Tech. (The guide is here ) A few questions: It looks like in it's current configuration I only have ~150 mm available on the Z axis. Is that nby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
I have a question that is not related to the Hardware of our Prusa-i3 but to the host software. I tried today to slice a complex file and Slic3r failed to generate a usable object (lower half of the item was missing)... I check it with the inspector tool of Meshmixer and only one point needed repair but even after that Slic3r returned multiple errors (unable to close this loop) and the object wby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants

QuoteSmuggler17 I am so excited, since I just finished my build and first calibration cube. After reading though a lot of threads I was expecting a much worse failure than it came out. With 10% infill the top started to sag and the last corner was torn away as the print finished. Either way, I'm proud of how it turned out so I wanted to come here and share it. My second print was not too bad but still could use some improvement... some sagging on areas where there is overhanging and some little bumps in the inner walls, the hardware need some fine tuning on the Y and X steeper voltages (Y could use some more juice!). I think that this fan support should work fine until I give the print a second chance... maybe enabling the support material settingby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotetjnamtiw Your temps should be fine. It may be sagging on the top because your infill isn't enough. Set it to about 25% in the slicer. It should support the top better and make sure you have 3 layers for the top. The bottom being slightly larger could be because you set the first layer to be more than 100%. I usually set mine for 150% to get a good wide first layer and plenty of grip. Aby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
Finally I printed something with my machine! After playing with the levelling and adjusting of the extruder (it end up getting clogged because of my stupidity while feeding it!) Quotetherippa QuoteMach What problems would you run into if you did auto bed leveling with the X axis endstop on the right instead of the left. I am planning on doing auto leveling, but I do not really want the endstop on the other side. Are there workarounds to the problems, or is it impossible? Quoteanimoose Apart from the PLA temperature, they will work at least to get going. Reduce the PLA temperature to something like 185 or 190. You can also get better results if you specify a lower speed for the first later (say 30% or 50%) or increase the thickness of it. Also I recommend adding M400 to the end code or you may lose a little of the top layer. It waits for the commands to finish. Thby Mrfus - Prusa i3 and variants
