A handy tool for assembling the Mendel90 - a very long hex key. That's a 2.5mm hex key with a 7mm diameter, 300mm long shaft (a rod out of an old printer). Works brilliantly as you can hold it close in to a cap screw even when it's beside a piece of mdf, easy to turn, and cheap! Just for the record: * Chop off the long part of a cheap 2.5mm hex key (from a $1 set). * Grind 10mm at one end to rby OmnivoreNZ - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi Derae, I'm another newbie in Christchurch, currently busily buying lots of bits to build my first machine. Dust (above) has been really helpful - talk to him for advice. He's advising you go with the Mendel Prusa and that's probably good advice. I've gone a different way (the Mendel90) but for my own reasons - I'm NOT a poor student so my needs are different.
