I have been partially succesful in improving surface finish by putting the completed part in an oven at about 60-70°C? Try at you own risk, it needs to be in there for quite a while and glosses the surface up as well as reduces the visibility of the build linesby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I thought Ullrich Aluminium had some T-slot extrusion in their range, from memory it is fairly expensive. regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Hi All, Last year I imported 2x complete sets of RAMPS electronic parts to build Mendel 2 & 3. One set has sat unassermbled in my garage and I have decided it is no longer required. I am putting an Ultimachine ramps V4 DIY kit + 4x Pololou stepper drivers + 2x Thermistors + 1x Thermal barrier PTFE + 1x length of glass fibre wrapped Nichrome on trademe tonight. If anyone is interrested I alsby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I had this problem, I think it is more likely to be the belt tension, also check the pulley is not slipping on the stepper shaft ( I saw this on a thingomatic recently) Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, I am in Wellington. If my memory serves me right I have one of these in my drawer at work already printed on an UP! printer in ABS and a really nice build. Let me know if you want it ( I am out in the Hutt) regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, I bought some Minibea steppers of trademe about a year ago for $15 each new and they have been fine on my reprap. Searched my old emails and tracked the guy down his Trademe name is Colza though he does not have any auctions on at present it might be worth contacting him. Hope this helps. I prefer ebay these days often you can get free shipping out of Asia it is a bit of a risk re quality,by Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, At the risk of annoying the reprap community... Is your motivation to build a machine or to design stuff? If you want to spend more time designing stuff have you looked at Shapeways you will get superb quality at a reasonable price. If your motivation is to make a machine consider buying parts from Ebay will save you quite alot compared to sourcing through local shops. Hi The first mendel I made had several parts made successfully from MDF using only a bandsaw and drill press, the hole positions were surprisingly accurate at ±0.3mm using scaled paper templates. see atthaced photo. regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
You will need about 5A ( 5000mA) from memory, more if you plan to run a heated build platform, you can buy these on trademe for quite reasonable.by Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Try SMC or one othe the other pneumatic suppliers, I just checked PTFE tube is on the SMC USA website, so a reasonable chance one of the pneumatic suppliers will have it or be able to get it in. probably will nopt be particularly cheap though knowing NZ suppliers. You could try ebay and look for a supplier offering free international shipping I have gotten quite a few bits and pieces at reasonabby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, You should not need a CNC machine to fix the sprocket to shaft. Drill and tap the sprocket perpendicular to shaft axis, then insert grub screw (suggest M3), If the stepper shaft has no flat on it you can file a flat on it if you are careful, make sure you seal around the shaft with tape so you get no swarf in the motor when filing. All the tools you need are: drill ( ideally drill press, bby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
For the size of part you are talking about it might be reasonable to have a commercial enterprise print it. We have a commerical machine at my work if you want a commercial quote email my work address on andrew.rodger@weltec.ac.nz ABS is not that bad guys they make Kids Legoby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Thanks Sublime, I got it sorted with your help! I can now update settings in profile except temperature which is in a header *.TXT script which I have figured out how to update. I do not know much about programming etc... but this seemed a pretty odd way to set things up. I assumed wrongly that I could update the temperature from within Raft Skeinforge wheras I needed to do it in header txt scripby Diecast dude - Controllers
I have been running a Mendel with Makerbot Gen 3 Electronics for over a year. I have used RepilcatorG 23, 24 & 25 and tried all variants of Skienforge within Replicator G they all work but when I try to change the setting within Skeinforge to improve my prints nothing changes in the updated G code! I have taken to changing the G code directly in Replicator G to adjust temperature etc... howevby Diecast dude - Controllers
Hi Vik, I would be interested in a couple of M6 brass bolts. regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, I made up 2x hobbed bolts yesterday, One looks ok though the M3 hobbing is not very deep the other is not as good. I think I need to make up a custom tool & jig to make these. Do you want me to send these two as they are (see attached photo). If you pay postage am happy to send. regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi, I bought four bolts yesterday to make a Wades Extruder (finally!) and am hoping to machine them at work this week on the lathe. If all goes well I could sort one out for you. what dimension do you need from under the bolt head to the centre of the hobbing? regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
The meeting worked out great with a lot of interest, thinking of having another catch up in maybe a month or so's time. Maybe next time we could consider a little more structure to an event next time? It has been suggested we should maybe move the venue around with Vic Uni being a possibilty next time. regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi All, Meeting is all go for this Thursday , if anyone needs directions on how to get there you better PM me. Look forward to meeting with anyone who turns up on Thursday ( from 4.30pm). regards Andrewby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Hi I have a Mendel with Gen 2 Electronics and have changed the software bed size several time in the XML machine file from 150mm to 200mm. I am sure you will be able to change the settings like this up to any size and it will update into Replicator G. I have a 0.8mm Nozzle I sometimes run and have seen a machine with a 1mm Nozzle on it though you will then need to change alot of settings in Skeiby Diecast dude - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Hi All, I am looking to see if any one in Wellington is interested in a Reprap meeting catching up. I am currently working at Weltec campus in Petone and I am pretty sure we can use one of the Labs there as a venue. I have a working Mendel and Weltec has a BfB Rapman which we could have there on show.
