This question has been frequently asked on this forum, I was in a similar position myself and I'm still looking into the pros and cons of local and international options. Isolt gave me some useful info when I was looking into the Mendel 90: "For a Menel90 you'll want to buy a kit from Nophead in the UK." "The price of the kit is £499, plus VAT in the EU, plus shipping. For availability checkby NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Very nice machine - and yes, post more pics! (good to see someone taking some good quality pics too!) You could't list out where your sourced all the parts from could you?by NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Although not a deal breaker, remember they charge GST for the shipping also, and I notice if you buy online they also charge an extra $40 tax (USD) so it's more like $799 + $120 shipping + $138 GST = $1,057 I'd be interested to hear how you get on pricing up the parts locally. I'm also considering putting one of these together at some stage. Be sure to contact Dust here on this forum, he has laby NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Backwards, forwards... doesn't really matter! Both nice looking machines. It is good to see them side by side - thanks for posting the pic. The M90 does look pretty sturdy with that massive base platform.by NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Thanks guys, Both look like good designs, It's more a case of me being lazy! I just want to order all the equipment at once I so I don't end up with a half finished project 6 months down the line if I should get distracted with other projects! The Mendel 90 does look a bit more polished in the design, but I'm not too worried how it looks as long as it works. Dust - You were selling partial i3by NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi all, Its another slow week at work so I'm doing more research into building myself a reprap machine. From what I have read, both the Mendel 90 and Prusa Mendel i3 are pretty similar. Much the same construction, tolerances, accuracy etc. Does the Mendel 90 have a slightly bigger print area? How do they compare regarding on-going maintenance? Anyway, I'm just wondering what experience peopleby NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Thanks Peter, Since posting my message earlier today I have spent quite a bit of time researching RepRap machines online and I came to the same conclusion - a 'wobble bot' just asking for trouble. I also discovered the Prusa 2 and I3 and realised that there is much better local support in NZ with several people operating them, and the likes of yourself in Chch. In fact I think it was your Tradeby NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and looking to get into 3D printing and starting my first RepRap project. I have a lot of questions and was wondering if anyone in Christchurch would be willing to give me a demo of their machine and point me in the right direction. I've been looking at getting a 3D Printer kit from Singapore (The Portabee 3D) so any advice on this would be greatly appreciated alby NZ_Scythe - New Zealand RepRap User Group
