Hi,I have an I3 clone with ramps 1.4/arduino mega2560.Reprapdiscount lcd screen via smart connector. My lcd screen works fine with the printer connected via USB,but if I unplug the Usb cord, the screen stops working. I have read all the posts i could find, and didn't find a solution that worked. The D1 diode is present,Uglib8 is installed in the library, the smart connector cables are the right wayby clogs51 - RAMPS Electronics
Hi,i have built a corexy machine to Tech2c's hypercube design, but have a final problem to solve before it will print. When homing the z axis,it goes to the top of it's travel as required, and triggers the end stop. But when then trying to lower the bed, using manual control, thebed doesn't move. I've changed the endstop positions, reversed motor direction, etc.,but can not get the correct movements. Cby clogs51 - CoreXY Machines
Here is a pic of my rrd graphic smart screen. It,s missing some of the 3rd line. Is this likely a software problem,or a dodgy screen? Thnx.by clogs51 - Printing
Do you print through a computer?Maybe the "sleep" power setting shuts down the printer.by clogs51 - Printing
I thought I would try Cura ,since sli3er's latest stable version keeps crashing on my laptop. However, when I load a cura sliced file into pronterface, the object ends up outside the printing area. I know I can move it,using the plater function, but it's slightly annoying. Is there a way to have the .stl file from cura open directly onto the pronterface grid?by clogs51 - Printing
Hmm,I may still be an idiot, but for a different reason than mentioned above. The day after I got really nice prints,it all turned to custard again. The nozzle would block after the first layer,I would clean it out,and start again. This must have happened 4 or 5 times, before I'd had enough. I left it for a couple of days, churning things over in my tiny mind. Then I remembered I had changed the nozzby clogs51 - Printing
I am an idiot.I am an idiot.I am an idiot! Did I say I was an idiot? I have the printer on an old desk, which has a slightly bowed top. So i put the printer on a piece of MDF.(medium density fibre board) to make sure it sits level. Said piece of MDF had moved backwards, trapping the filament spool against the wall. This must have caused the lack of extrusion at seemingly random points. Once thereby clogs51 - Printing
I have converted my I3 chinese aurora printer to bowden extruder, using "schlotts" extruder.Mk.7 drive gear. e3d type hotend,0.4mm nozzle,1.75mm Esun grey PLA filament.@ 190 degrees C. I have a severe extrusion problem, which is shown in the pic below: As you can see, there already is a slight gap between the lines of the 5mm brim.As the actual print starts, things rapidly decline. Fwiw,I had what i thought was a blocked nozzle,e.g.no output, gears turning intermittently, stepper very hot to the touch.(wade's type extruder, clone v6 hotend) After completely pulling the extruder system apart, the problem turned out to be the printed small gear. It has a pocket for an m3 nut,to fasten the gear on the stepper shaft. The plastic on the outside of this pocket had fractured, due to somby clogs51 - Reprappers
Hi,I have a Ramps 1.4 setup on a chinese Aurora I3 printer. After fitting a bowden type extruder, tyring to update the settings I ran into the following problem. When trying to upload the sketch to ramps,i get this error: status1. Having printed some "handed" parts,i.e., a left and right,I have noticed the parts are a mirror version of what is intended. Is this something to do with my x and y axes? How do i correct this?thnx.by clogs51 - Printing
I don't know what type of extruder you have, but my "wade's type" with indirect gearing gave me all sorts of feeding problems. I found that the grub screw holding the small gear on the stepper shaft was not sitting on the flat of the shaft. This caused it to slip at odd times, leading to the inexplicable feeding troubles. I put washers on the main gear till i was able to move both gears out far enoby clogs51 - Printing
I installed the last stable version on my Windows7 laptop, but it crashed regularly when trying to slice a file. Anyone else have this problem,or is this program aimed at later windows versions? I,ve gone back to v.1.1.7,as this has given me no problems.by clogs51 - Printing
Would this: gadget be a reliable way to add sd card support? Or is there a better way to do it?thnx.by clogs51 - Printing
I have set the laptop to never sleep or standby. It has always worked reliably before,so i had no reason to doubt it. It's not connected to the internet,so can't do updates unless I bring it within range of the wifi modem.(it lives in the workshop with the printer). I have a spare ramps set that I bought to make a new printer,so I'll swap that out for the old one,and see what happens. I could tryby clogs51 - Printing

Hi,I have a chinese Aurora I3,modified with wade,s extruder,Ramps 1.4 electronics,Marlin fw. QuoteJust to let you know, PVC glue is the winner. Good to know. I have also used 2-part epoxy, the 5-minute stuff, which seems to hold ok too.by clogs51 - Printing
I'm pretty sure the Plastruct cement is just thinned PVC solvent glue, the stuff used to glue PVC plumbing tube together. You might find that at a large hardware store, even in Brazil.I don,t have any here, otherwise i would test it myself.by clogs51 - Printing
Hi,I designed a filament guide for the top of an 8mm acrylic I3. The bottom 7/8th of the print is fine, but the top part is seriously deficient, with incomplete infill and perimeters. What could cause a problem like this?Slicing?(Slic3r) The printer is an Aurora I3,fitted with a Wade's extruder,J-head hotend (genuine hotends.com) with 0.4mm nozzle. My printer's working pretty well at the moment,so I'd be happy to help out. However, again only PLA.. So if i understand correctly, you need the X carriage,X end idler, and X end motor V2? Well kickamamoocow! I remembered I had changed a blown thermistor on the hotend a couple of weeks ago. I ordered a few Semitec ones from hotends.com,but decided I would try one of the el cheapo chinese ones I got from Alixpress in the meantime. I recently bought a few reels of filament from a different supplier than my usual one. This filament causes severe stringing and oozing of the hotend. I've gone back through all posts in this thread, and noted down each and every suggestion. Yet nothing seems to make my printer head lift before homing after finishing a print. The code works fine when used manually in pronterface, but once in the gcode file, nix, nada, zip, nuffink. Even my own suggestion of adding the code manually to the file was rubbish.
