I suspect support needs to have some sort of 1 in 4 slope calculated into it or something.by se5a - Slic3r
I had a go at doing the lion (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7930) at .05 layerheight with support, this time the support was actually THERE which was great, unfortunately it was to small (just a single dot of extrusion) to be useful and came off the build plate after only a few layers. anyone else played with support yet?by se5a - Slic3r
well my first attempt at making a hotend was a partial success, though it failed at the pfte-barrel join. used the same method Iceman uses here, but it extruded itself. I was using an 8mm rod (though would have been more 7.something after I'd filed the thread off it and put groves in it) going into a 20mm PTFE I used a 5mm hole and hammered the two parts into each other, then used a hose clamp.by se5a - General
yeah those will draw a too much current for the typical setup (using pololu drivers)by se5a - General

note that homing is probably not that accurate, and going to be a tiny bit different each time.by se5a - General
if you could do a consistant 1x1 square section you might be able to get something working duno how well it would work once it got to the hotend, as I understand it the round filiment expands as it heats up blocking the hole in the ptfe and stopping backflow. another problem you're going to have with HDPE is it shrinks a lot as it cools. so it's not easy to print with.by se5a - General
you should only need to change it in slic3r or whatever. since extrusion steps is done on filament input rather than output.by se5a - General
Got one right here: focus is a little out, but I'm holding up some parts by placing bolt boxes next to them. while they print. Edit: fix sizeby se5a - General
cyanoacrylate gives a nice shiny finish to PLA. applying it in a nice even layer could be tricky though.by se5a - General
yeah that one is not going to cut it. you need something that will cope with waaay more current draw than that.by se5a - New Zealand RepRap User Group
somone in Australia sent it to me as a kit. umn Auzze maybe? I'll check if I can see if it says anything on the board the board says ultimaker ramps 1.4by se5a - General
I'm still in the same boat. keep us posted when you do find out what the problem is, and I'll do the same if I figure mine out. atm I'm just running with the fan always on and manualy placing the fan where it can blow on the part or not.by se5a - General
Yeah I noticed this too, and even made a report on github which got closed, I wasn't able to be as clear as you as to what the problem was.by se5a - Slic3r
think I may have fixed the blobbing, seems that the default acceleration settings were way too high. will print this object again and see how it comes out.by se5a - Slic3r
this is a little weird, could it be caused by an dodgy/noisy endstop? since it's only ever happened on the first layer, I'm thinking maybe not... still seems a little weird for an endstop to cause this. otherwise I'm thinking something with the firmware.by se5a - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
well if you swapped x and y that would have used a different pololu.by se5a - General
It's better to look at the power output and current pull kthx says: ideal steppers are ideal steppers are NEMA17 size, rated 1.5A to 1.8A or less, 1-4 volts, 3 to 8 mH, 62oz.in (44Ncm, 4.4kg.cm) or more of torque, 1.8 or 0.9 degrees per step (200/400 steps/rev respectively), for example the kysan 1124090/42BYGH4803 or the 17HS8401 if all that is equal, then you're going to get more steps per mmby se5a - General
if you want to test for strength, try extruding cold for a bit. then try printing onto of layers that have had too much fill. (so the hotend gets dragged through the layer below, which will cause it to flex side to side) if it can survive the above then I think you've won the prize for the best techniqueby se5a - General
yeah depending on your hotend, 205 is way high. I print PLA at 185 if you've calibrated your esteps that way they should be fairly close, have you also measured the diameter of your filament? measure it with a calliper in a couple of different places along the length, and also check whether it is round rather than oval average it out and use that number in slicer for the filament diameter. Iby se5a - General
try lowering the temperature a little, also try a fan blowing on the part. check your esteps too. print something with a couple of solid layers, after the third layer examine how it's printing, if there's too much try send an M92 Exxx ie if your esteps are currently say 700, send M92 E680 if your esteps are too low you'll start to notice slight gaps between the extrusionsby se5a - General
oh yeah there's a bit of history, def get that up and running again.by se5a - General
slice and print the Twisted Bottle: at 0.2mm layer height it's fairly obvious at 0.1mm it's disastrous. when it gets to the bottle part, and it's not printing the lid as well any more, it stops, retracts, goes up a z level, extrudes and continues. at 0.2mm I get a little blob at this point at 0.1mm I get a large blob and had to stop the print it got so bad. the wait time at this point also cauby se5a - Slic3r

huh, interesting way to join the ptfe and threaded tube. I might have a go at that.by se5a - General
M107 does not work for me, on sprinter main or experimental. (the fan stays on)by se5a - General
Just download the latest pronterface, it has slic3r included.by se5a - Slic3r
I also get the fan running contunuosly when plugged into d9 in ramps 1.4 I was suspecting a short somewhere, (soldered ramps up myself) but I can't see one anywhere obvious.by se5a - General
