Aliexpress is cheap, but if you can combine with other Goodluckbuy items then these seem to work OK (disclaimer: I only have a sample size of one): Might just buy 10 of those Aliexpress steppers: 5 for another printer, 2 for a robot, 2 for a Drawbot for the whiteboard at work, and one spare...by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I've been to both, and did get some things but not everything. First time I went to Mitre 10 they at least had some 3mm stuff; next time they'd stopped! I will try both again though. Really, it's just a few darned silly little screws and it's driving me crazy. Sourced a grand's worth of wierd and wonderful components from all over the world for this project, and can't find a few measly springs.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
This is such a lame problem! I have a fully built printer sat on my desk, and am now stumped on trivial nuts, bolts and springs to finish a Greg's Hinged Accessible Extruder. Can anyone recommend a place in Welly (or NZ online?) where I can source a bunch of M3/M4 nuts and bolts, and more frustratingly the two compression springs? Ideally, a physical store where I can browse.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Aliexpress seems to have everything! Just FYI, the recommended(?) Nema-17 link that comes up in the IRC channel is this:by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Just for comparison (if you're up for straying from the "standard" path - and I totally accept that some people aren't) then the Ord Bot printers come in at less that. It's a design that can be considered proven now, given that there are a few hundred out there working.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I'd be interested in attending and am just round the corner in Eastbourne. My Ord Bot is mechanically complete; need to finish the electronics. Thanks! The colour and material are no issue - it's just to get me up and running. I'll likely print a modified extruder that better fits the Ord, and I like herringbone gears. As to PLA, for now I'm not planning on using ABS. The printer is a toy for me and my kids, and I'm not keen on having a heated platform around the place (and chemical nastiness, albeit unproven). Thanks a lot for the offer, Andrew, but Dust has kindly popped one in the post for me already. The UP! is a clean design - pretty slick! I'm (somwhat sacrilegiously on this forum) building an Ord Bot. It's currently the only Kiwi Ord Bot, but hopefully someone else will get one now that Inventables are carrying them. Welly.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Does anyone have a spare small gear from a Greg's Hinged Accessible Extruder they can sell me? Or... print me one and I'll pay for your materials/effort? I can't print one myself because this is for my first printer, so I'm chicken-egged. The one I have is a poor print - one tooth is too small and also has a lump, so it's sticking.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Cheapest deal I found - albeit too late for me - is this:by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
At least with goodluckbuy the shipping's free (same for most of the Chinese bucket shops). The shipping costs on my printer build finished up at $122.90 NZ after a lot of shopping around. I could possibly have done better, but that eats further into my very limited free time.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
That's pretty good, thanks. $7 extra to get just the one I need from Goodluckbuy. Decisions, decisions...by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Minebea - that was them! He was doing 3 for $42 or $15 each - I remember now. Should have snagged them when I had the chance.by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
It seems that my Google-fu is weakening. I can't seem to find a decent Nema 17 stepper for my extruder locally for less than what I can import one for, i.e. just under 25 bucks inc. shipping. Can anyone point me at one? Thanks! There was a guy on Trademe who used to sell them but of course, "I'll get one later"...by butterfinger - New Zealand RepRap User Group
