It will be difficult for the board to be trimmable . .but will consider the other board size in future pcb runs . .im pcb craaazy at the moment learning the eagle software . .i want to make them as cheap as possible so that it will not be too much a burden in the pocket for the first time builder . . .thats why i am inclined to make the mk1 as my first run . .single sided cheaper raw material .by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
The mk2a heated be kooks interesting too . .by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
You guys recon it will be worth doing the 12"x12" based on the mk2 rather than mk1?by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

I am planning to do a prototyping run on a 12"x12" heated bed . . singe layer board, 1.6mm/2.0mm FR-4, HASL lead free,1oz, two sided blue mask, white silkscreen .. This board is base on the mk1 design . .any takers? Was planning to use it on a rostock and a mendel90 build. .post here if interested. . .thanksby Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Cool . .i use 5a and a 9a polyfuse .. .9a coz its what i had from my previous 1.3 build which worked for me . . The male headers on aux 4 is to accomodated the lcd shield from gadgets3d . .testing tommorow when i have a bit more time . . .by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I had a chance do some soldering on ramps 1.4 over the weekend . .all smd components, headers , jumpers and pins done . . Soldering surface mounted components wasn't that bad as i thought it would be . .a good pair of tweezer and some flux should do the trick for anyone hand soldering the SMC on this board . .'will try to use a heat gun on the SMC in my next build . .see how that goes . . .by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Here are the links to the http://reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4]ramps 1.4 and the ramps 1.3 . I havent tried 1.4 yet as this will be my first attempt on surface mounted components, as for the 1.3, i used components left over from the sanguino build + the resettable fuses , i had a spare arduino 1280. . i was thinking to sell these in kits, see how organized i am these coming weeks to source componeby Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Its up and running again @ inquisistor I was also looking at using nichrome wires, but used the resistor coz i couldnt source some fire cement at the time i was building . .what is the watt and ohms specs on the resistors you use ? What controller are you using on your 3d printer? My hot end setup is 2x 5watt @ 5.6 ohms 5% tollerance and i use sanguino 1.3 as controller, the mosfet for theby Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

So ive been off my printer for a while, when i got back to it, my prints where not the same quality as before. .so i got my tools and tinkered away . .mechanical side of the printer was good as gold . .maybe it was the bowden which i just recently switched to. ."to gain some z travel" . .with that as a suspect culprit, i changed back to the normal extruder config i was using . .still getting baby Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Did you use arduino 0023 to burn the new bootloader?by Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
if you mean the pololu avr programmer, (2 steps) update cust. firmware on windows and burn a new bootloader on mac 1) windows side of things: before you can connect your avr programmer to a mac you will need access to windows based pc ( yes....i had to install windows 7 on my mac to get the avr going) follow the pololu link on how to install the drivers and software for windows. then i downlby Alizier21 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
