If you're using a copied SD card, it's possible that you have an IP-address conflict or a MAC address conflict. Or, as @dc42 suggests, the NetBIOS name won't always work... if definitely won't work if there's a conflict! Occasionally, my Duet will fail to initialise the network connection if I turn on the power supply first. I've gotten into the habit of turning it on with USB first, then turninby 0x0000 - Ormerod

Having built this printer from scratch, I thought I would toss in my two cents. I don’t find mean-spirited criticisms to be useful. Rather than wasting time being angry at one another, let’s talk about the faults of the design and work together to improve it, so that we can all learn from mistakes and benefit from them. Check the wiring at the screw terminals. Are they crimped with ferrules to secure them? If you have bare wires going in, your power is being wasted as heatvat that poor connection. Post pics if you can. If your connection is solid, I'd suggest that your power supply is not powerful enough.by 0x0000 - Ormerod

How did you determine that the motor is bad? The description you've given sounds like it could be a poor wiring connection, or miswired (either on the Duet or the looms). The green wire on my Z comes out occasionally and makes a sound very similar to what you've described.by 0x0000 - Ormerod

I love this! I've had my eye on it for a while. Since nobody has asked yet - what is the thing that you're using as a base? Are the aluminium brackets that you're using for the Y-axis ends part of that base, or did you cut them yourself? Where did you get the T-bracket that you've used to join the Y and Z axis? My 'rod is currently sagging badly towards the X-axis, and I'm looking out for waysby 0x0000 - Ormerod

By "re-zero", do you mean rehoming your Z-axis? During the initial calibration of the printer, we're instructed on how to set up the Z-probe using a known height at a known value. If your new build plate is thinner and you have not changed anything, you're going to get a lower Z-value for the same Z-axis height. Maybe you need to re-adjust that? Check that the main processor is not excruciatingly hot. If it's normal temps (40C or so), check your USB connection. If it's in the 60+ range there's something wrong. Is a shorted SD card a repairable problem? I'm fairly certain this is the cause of my 0.6 failure and I'd love to know how to fix it.by 0x0000 - Ormerod

Or an equivalent that will work? I found some square shaped nuts on our folding doors that fit perfectly into my 2020 extrusion, but I don't know where to find more of them! I know t-nuts are available from overseas suppliers, but I'm keen to avoid the delay and the expense by purchasing something locally in NZ. Dumb mistake - the gear was sitting too high on the small gear, so the filament was sliding along the bearings rather than the hobbed insert. Good news though, I've started a printby 0x0000 - Ormerod

Now that my Duet is back in business, I'm having filament issues. Turns out I have to push my filament into the extruder really hard to get it to start feeding. I thought this was normal while setting it up and just went with it, but now it doesn't seem to feed in at all on its own. If I'm not standing there forcing it in, it doesn't extrude. What is the cause of this? The documentation mentionsby 0x0000 - Ormerod

I'm up and going again! The new Duet is working great All four steppers are stepping, all of the heaters are heating, and the sensors are sensing. But now I'm having extruder issues... I just can't win!by 0x0000 - Ormerod
Filament won't feed on its own - does my extruder need cleaning? - 10 years ago
I'm building an Ormerod 2 and attempting my first print. I've had a lot of issues with this thing, but until recently gripping filament wasn't one of them! I'm trying to print with PLA, and a few weeks ago I had no issues at all feeding filament into the extruder. Now that same filament doesn't go through on its own -I have to push it really hard into the extruder to get it to feed into the Bowdby 0x0000 - Printing

I've got the new Duet all wired up and powered on with the 12V power supply. I did a stress test last night and was able to get the bed and the hotend up to ABS temperatures, so the ferrules and power supply are holding up well! The proximity sensor is also working correctly, so my earlier homework is correct! However, when I try to move the stepper motors in Pronterface, I am welcomed with thatby 0x0000 - Ormerod

You need to rename sys-Ormerod to sys. They're all provided as examples, and "sys" ends up being the one that's used by the Duet. When you first power up via USB, it can take up to a minute before it responds to a M115 command.by 0x0000 - Ormerod

I found some ferrules @Treito. I hope these make you less sick! 2.5mm ferrules. I tried with 25A cable, but it wouldn't fit into the ferrule. This is 15A and thicker than the previous ones. 20A wasn't available: 0.75mm ferrules, which were the smallest I could get. The big ones are in there VERY tight - there's no way those are coming out unless I unscrew them myself. I can't believe I trieby 0x0000 - Ormerod

I do not like to answer that as it was temporarily solution (for the last 6 months). I needed the MK2 to fix my MK1 and vice versa. Nice work! What size are your ferrules? I just did a quick measurement, and the larger green ones measure approximately 3mm across? The baby ones for the hotend wires on the 0.8.5 are smaller, approximately 1mm There's an electrical supplies store in the city, I'll see if they stock something more useful than the hobbyist electronic shop. I'll refrain from showing you my IEC fused socket. It wiby 0x0000 - Ormerod

My heated bed has a 100K thermistor instead of a 10K... can I account for this in software, or will I need to find a proper thermistor? I previously sent this command to change the expected resistance on the board: M305 P0 R95.5 ; Set the heated bed thermistor series resistor To obtain the expected room temperature.
