Solution found. Open slic3r separately from Repetierhost. Slic3r's "My Settings" should transfer in then slice the objects sequentially. Exported file can then be viewed and printed in rHost. The Slic3r sequential printing option (or my brain) isn't working, it still slices all objects in one layer. Using Repetier host, Slic3r settings; Radius 14mm Height 14mm. Yep, kind peeps in the various reprap forums have solved almost every question I've posted, dumb or otherwise. The pausing issue is still there but I let that one go. Great tip, The Forge GSO, NC is loaded with machining and woodworking equipment, and a couple of printers. Plan to go check it out, thanks again.by instmkr - Slic3r
So the time estimates must be coming from rHost after slic3r generates code. Will study more about acceleration and jerk settings. These strings and blobs really bite. How does one go about getting reasonably priced and fair professional help in these reprap build matters? Just seems like my rookie mistakes could be detected and fixed in 10 minutes of dedicated support. Thanks all, Stuartby instmkr - Slic3r
Thanks Dave Yep, blobbing and stringing is correct. The options selected seem not to matter, longer retraction setting = longer pauses and fugly seams. The pausing may not be a slic3r issue, possibly with marlin configuration.h. The same part sliced with pronterface (in 2012) printed in 2h9m, slic3r estimates 1h59m but prints at 2h30m. Using ReplicatorG on knockoff ctc also estimates and printby instmkr - Slic3r
When printing a solid cylinder, estimated time is around 15% under actual time. Same cylinder but hollow, estimated time is spot on. On more complex solid prints it takes 25% more time than estimated. Before this the printhead would pause for hundreds of milliseconds multiple times per layer. "Fixed" this by setting retraction at .1 which "seemed" to stop the pauses. The printer is a SDoodle2by instmkr - Slic3r
Yea and "it" may come back to bite. Printing like a dream now. Thanks for assist.by instmkr - Reprappers
Got it. No retraction no pausing. Duh.by instmkr - Reprappers
Evidentally editing posts truncates long text posts... Switched to slicing a 15x15x1.2mm cube. Odd thing, printing did not pause during traverse (or any) move in the three previous layers. Many thanks for your help. Video (nothing much to see after printer pauses) Cby instmkr - Reprappers

Not certian but did not find any Mcode pauses or a G4. Would the "inserted pause commands" come from Slic3r's Filament Settings/Cooling "Slow down if layer print time is below" ? Thanksby instmkr - Reprappers
Same results from SD print or usb. Good linkage though, 4 years no trouble printing over usb = good luck.by instmkr - Reprappers
My prints have pauses seemingly before and after the rapid movements on each layer. The behavior is shown at youtube link. Stumped for two days, any help appreciated. marlin configuration.h Solidoodle2 refitted with ramps1.4, 2560 mega, marlin with repeteirHost on win7proby instmkr - Reprappers
Now there are many pauses during a print, seemingly just before and after a travel move. Thanks in advance.by instmkr - Reprappers
Gentlemen, The issue is resolved. Imagining the extruder lifting vs my table dropping finally cracked the bonehead. Z-plug -min-endstop indeed. Thanks much, Stuartby instmkr - Reprappers
Dave With Z stepper reversed as above I moved the z endstop plug to Zmin on ramps and tested. Print homed correctly but bed travels max away from endstop/extruder as in earlier video (Z endstop still ineffective). Then I set ENDSTOP_Z_MAX_INVERTING, this enabled the Z endstop but video issue prevailed. Will be incommunicado until Sunday afternoon EST US. Thanks for assistance and looking forwardby instmkr - Reprappers
gbr1918 Inverted the Z stepper but now Z endstop ineffective in home direction. Does this look normal? From same configure.h // Travel limits after homing (units are in mm) #define X_MIN_POS 0 #define Y_MIN_POS 0 #define Z_MIN_POS -150 #define X_MAX_POS 150 #define Y_MAX_POS 150 #define Z_MAX_POS 0 Thanksby instmkr - Reprappers
Changing the Z_HOME_DIR helped But couldn't get close to a real print using MIN_PLUGs. Endstops now connected to MAX_PLUGs with this config Is very close. During the print homing XYZ is fine but Z (table) stays on zero while XY printing. The printer display is also stuck on Z zero. However, RepHost shows the bed position moving Z during that print, starting from 5mm, not zero. Unless anyonby instmkr - Reprappers
obewan, I wired the endstops to XYZ MIN_PLUG and changed config to use MIN now everything is backwards (As before). Zprobe and bed leveling are left at the default in my config.h. Were you using min AND max endstops, six mechanical endstops total? If ur using only 3 endstops are they physically located at X right side, Y printer back and Z top? (facing printer front) Many Thanksby instmkr - Reprappers
>>>"Have you run calibration?" I ran the ramps test, esteps. Is there another calibration to run?by instmkr - Reprappers
Thanks for input. Video shows printer behavior. Can't see the display in vid but XYZ home at 150. After heating the bed drops to 5. Extruder finally heats and "print" starts around 3:40. Before i mangled it the previous iteration of configuration.h had everything working correctly except a 5mm gap off the bed in Z. The 5mm (exactly) quirk is in the video also. current configuration.hby instmkr - Reprappers
obewan Are you using a Z probe or bed leveling with that setup? Was thinking the endstops I purchased already had pullups (3 wires on a board w/led indicator) From your configure.h #define USE_XMIN_PLUG #define USE_YMIN_PLUG #define USE_ZMIN_PLUG //#define USE_XMAX_PLUG //#define USE_YMAX_PLUG //#define USE_ZMAX_PLUG I am using MAX connectors on ramps board. and in config, Is this incorrect? Would someone using fff 3d printer with Ramps 1.4, 2560 mega and endstops at X/Y/Z max, please share their marlin configuration.h? (for comparison/troubleshooting) Thanksby instmkr - Reprappers
It was something to do with Z homing or min/max. Many thanks for assistance.by instmkr - Reprappers
>"What positions do you have your end stop switches ?" Facing the printer's front, endstops are located at X right, Y back, Z top. >"but in Rep host you have them set to min. would this cause a conflict ?" Changed them back to MAX then zero but got same result. sigh Attachment shows preview of layer 0 travel (odd yes?). That start position is opposite the XY endstop positions. > "Do you mean that they move when manualy told to?" Yes, full control manually in rHost, and marlin via display/control.. Can drive all axis into their endstops, it stops movement. Drive the axis towards non-endstop end and software stops it just before crash. Ramps test code does its thing in all axis. Only running the initial/test print gives the unexpected result of extrusion but no XYby instmkr - Reprappers
Finally all axis's and endstops are working properly in Marlin and home correctly with m-code in RepetierHost. Printing the first part the printer homes and heaters heat, but none of the axis ever move, except the extruder and it's extruding as if it were printing.? The 5V regulator on mega 2560 must have been the trouble as a new 2560 fixed it. Many thanks for your input. Now if can just solve "heating failed" on extruder re-heat. And a print that x/y sits still while the extruder makes spaghetti...by instmkr - Reprappers
Quotedc42 The 5V regulator on the Arduino is overheating. See #1 at . Good linkage. Earlier while troubleshooting homing issues I reversed the ramps X axis endstop connector and when triggered the display trouble began.
