Hello, Have been experiencing unexpected movement issues while printing. I.E. - Zeta axis does not move properly during Z hop or across a layer, the layer height changes to the point of under extrusion. My first layer offset changes print to print, as well I have found that the stepper M.A. settings have been randomly changing, as reported by M122 I have not seen any overtemperature warnings.by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
An NTC3950 should work well configured as #1 in MARLIN. If it is an NTC3950B # 13 may work better. Be sure to do your PID or MPC tuning. I would thoroughly check the Amazon page that you ordered it from for the specific settings. (Maybe contact the seller) Don't forget to use the search box at the bottom of the page. Check the reviews as well. Be sure the heater cartridge to heat block joinby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I use foil baked insulation on the bottom side of my heat bed. The bed seems to heat a little faster, seems to be a little more evenly distributed, and seems to heating less often. ( more noticeable in the winter.) Be sure to re-tune your heater controls after install. Although I have never verified this with anything like thermal imaging. - Shaneby Mr Kroll - General
My machine was a very well used kit that I bought second hand to get into 3d printing. Have you had random missing extrusions? I chased this problem once. thinking slicer issues?, firmware?, my lack of experience? It turned out to be very well used steppers, (the end play of the motors was going out) They would act up randomly, usually from printing differently shaped objects and during differby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Hello Again, The week after my last posting the printer started miss-behaving. I have spent a few hours exploring MARLIN [2.1.2.4] each night, trying to resolve the unexpected behavior. I have also hunted through the start & end code from My slicer and disabled the start and end code of the TFT When a print Ends the extruder fully unloads. The filament sensor was connected to the SKR_3 I haby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Once Again, Thank You Dust! To sum up; Here is how I got an Orbiter Filament sensor to work well under MARLIN. Thank you, quickly configured marlin and hooked up to P.S. _ON last night. , Have some GCODE & Dependencies to adjust for functionality. At least the whole system is not stuck in a load\unload loop like what happened trying to use E0_DET & E1_DET (Yes, I did read in Marlin one sensor for one extruder) (decided to try it anyways to see if I could find a workaround)by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Thank you Dust, I used The BTT SKR3 EZ V1.0-PIN & the BTT SKR3 EZ V1.0SCH Diagrams to select this pin. (I just had no idea what a Buffer/Driver is, not sure That I do now, other than they are non-inverting) I may play with the P.S. on pin and see If I can make it work.by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Good afternoon everyone. I am running a BTT SKR_3_EZ for my controller. My printer has 1 extruder. I am trying to set up an Orbiter filament sensor. I have the runout part of the sensor working well. It is plugged into E0DET pins=[5v,GRD,PC2] The sensor is designed with an unload button. N/O 4.2v out when triggered. When I use E1DET for the unloader portion the system goes into a loop; LOAD/by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
All I can recommend is going back and watching the video that I posted earlier in this thread. In his video Ed implies that he increases the micro step settings to make things more sensitive. (maybe that will help make it easier to tune) I copied and pasted the following line straight from the comments in Marlin 2.1.2.1 " * It is recommended to set HOMING_BUMP_MM to { 0, 0, 0 }." ***Confby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I set up X & Y sensor less homing in close to this manner in Marlin 2.1.2.1 This video posted on Youtube will get you through most of it: I kept my micro steps set to 16. (my preference) In the section #define SENSORLESS_HOMING // StallGuard capable drivers only Marlin recommends; " * It is recommended to set HOMING_BUMP_MM to { 0, 0, 0 }." ***Configuration_Adv.h*** You should also uncomby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Did you get your printer running? I am homing X & Y MIN sensor-less with 2209's While X & Y MAX are software Limited. My controller is a SKR 3, the set up should not be that much different. This post contains relative information If your machine is not running yet, post and I can walk you through the parameters.by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Thankyou very much for the thorough reply! That little bit of understanding will lead to quite a bit of learning in configuring Marlin It explains why thing were behaving so weirdly as I was Playing with the system. I will have to look at reassigning other resources for the mods that I am working on. Thank you very much, Shaneby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Hello, I am compiling Marlin 2.1.2.2 for a BTT SKR_3EZ with TMC2209 steppers. I have set up sensorless homing; Trinamically for the X & Y Using a BL Touch sensor in the dedicated slots for the Z axis. I would like to use the X_MIN & Y_MIN plugs for another purpose, , However: //=========================================================================== //==============================by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
PROBLEM SOLVED, Maybe this information can help someone else to get their printer running how they would like it to. with the newer version of marlin, Sensorless homing was was quite different to get working reliably and smoothly. In version 2.0.x.x theses were my settings. It worked very smoothly, and correctly absolutely every time. #define SENSORLESS_BACKOFF_MM { 0, 0, 0 } #definby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I had an old SKR_2 controller Running Marlin 2.0.9.6 that I could never get ABL to function correctly on, Late last year, or earlier this year? I replaced it. trying to solve the problem. Typical of trying to solve a problem by throwing parts at something it didn't fix my ABL problem. What finally did was a newer version of Marlin. So last Night, I swapped the controller out, using all the otby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Just curious, when setting driver type in configuration.h, What is the difference between setting them as TMC 2209 or TMC 2209_STANDALONE?by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I set SENSORLESS_BACKOFF_MM to 5,5,0 & I enabled IMPROVE_HOMING_RELIABILITY and TMC_HOME_PHASE. It refused to home, X moved a small amount, Y moved a small amount, Z moved right out of bounds. The stall sensitivity seems perfect for x and Y when it does actually home. Any other Ideas? I am wondering if I have a problem with my TFT? (the way it is saving files to the SDCARD)by Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I am using the sensor less homing set up. with the 2209's After upgrading to 2.1.2.1 I have a homing mess. After start up it will home 1 time from Pronterface, or 1 time from the TFT. After that if I try to home, it looses its positions and tries to home out of the machine boundaries, or the axis barely moves, or both I have also noticed that when I upgraded my TFT Firmware, it saves a bunchby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
One of the suppliers I checked with listed the "flatness" of the milling for ALCA5 aluminum as .015" (.381mm) With an initial layer height of .3mm it seems the right way to set up a build plate would be to have it Blanchard & parallel ground. It would come down to the machinist, and the condition and quality of his equipment as to what tolerance he can achieve. I get that the next concern iby Mr Kroll - Mechanics
I looked into ALCA5 tool plate and parallel grinding, big $$$. I may still do it, but will definitely have do do more shopping around. A guy would think there was a company that made quality heated beds. They could stock 10 to 15 basics beds with variants. There would surly be a market for them. I guess one of the hurdles, would be developing a reputation, and then shipping them without damagiby Mr Kroll - Mechanics

I have an STC-1000 Temp controller. (about $10.00 US) It was to be the back up plan. It seemed to me setting it up through the controller & MARLIN allowed a little easier adjustment, including temp control in the preheat menus. Thanks, Shaneby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
Sorry, apparently I buried my question in the text above. So here it is; Does anyone know how to properly configure MARLIN to accomplish this? Or can anyone see how I monkeyed up what I am trying to configure? Thank you in advance, Shaneby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
I have a BTT SKR 2 with a TFT35 E3 V3 screen The TFT firmware is set up like this; #### Heated Chamber Support # Enable/disable presence of heated chamber. # # NOTE: Disable it to let the TFT auto-detect if chamber heating is enabled in Marlin firmware. # # Options: heated_chamber:0 I am trying to set up a a passive chamber heat system with a chamber fanby Mr Kroll - Firmware - Marlin
