Well, I didn't receive my printer today. Yesterday, I put into fedex to have them deliver it to one of their 24 hour stores about 1/2 mile from here because I knew I would be out for part of the day and wouldn't be able to sign for it. For whatever reason, even though it would have been delivered to my house today, they couldn't seem to get it to their own store, so it will be Fri before I canby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 Got my E3d today and only had about an hour to play with it. Yesterday I managed to print out a mounting plate from thingiverse to fit the e3d. Today I took an extruder body and drilled out a hole in the bottom big enough for the top of the e3d to recess into. It mounted up pretty well. The thing is awesome! I was barely able to print at 10mm/s with my old failing hotend. I put the e3dby brucehvn - Reprappers
I got my e3d today. There were no instructions included, but they do have nice PDF instructions on their website. Here's some photos. All the parts fit nicely in a single plastic sandwich bag which is how it was shipped Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 I forgot to say, Diytechshop assured me their hotends are fixed, so it shouldn't be a problem. They seemed pretty confident of this and there haven't been any reports of the new ones failing on here. I hope to have my E3D today. If it comes I'll post some pics of it attached. I used standard bits to clean up my parts. I don't have any metric as well. Yes, let us know how it fits intoby brucehvn - Reprappers
I got the automated message from fedex saying they will deliver my printer tomorrow and they need a signature. I wrote DIYTS as I haven't been able to download anything yet, but I don't expect to hear from them. I might try calling them this afternoon. The E3D hotend should be here today as well. I'm excited to get to the unboxing. Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Looks like the E3D hotend I ordered will be here before the printer, so I may be able to skip the little brass altogether. However, I'm not sure the E3D will fit into the mounting piece provided with the printer and I may need to use the little brass just to get some pieces printed. Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Thanks ciutateivissa. I forgot I had one other question. I know that some of the plastic parts will need to be drilled out. Do I need a set of metric drill bits for this? I have a full set of SAE bits, but if they need to be metric, I'll need to pick some up. Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Though I got my fedex tracking number on Friday, looks like DIYTS just got it to fedex today (Tuesday). Estimated delivery is on Thu. One question. Do these printers come with a fan for the hot end? I was wondering if that was causing some of the problems with leaking, etc. Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 Just ordered an E3D hot end. Diytechshop is sending me a new little brass hotend, but I'm just not pleased with the print speed of the current one I have. I'm lucky if I get 30 mm/s. All the good reviews on here made me want to give the e3d a try. If it gets me slightly faster print speeds I'll be happy. I was tempted yesterday to order an E3D as well even though I don't have the printeby brucehvn - Reprappers
Got my Fedex tracking number today for my i3Alpha. I'm excited but prepared for a bumpy ride putting it together.by brucehvn - Reprappers
Quote Not too bad. Pretty stable. From the smaller prints I've done I think it is rigid enough to make some decent prints. The force of it is throwing it all around my table though. Yeah, I think probably mounting it to a plywood base or something is probably a good idea. I'm going to try and call diyts Friday and see if mine is on schedule for shipping. Sent an email asking, but never got a rby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 I guess my big thing is just getting a working printer so I can make replacement pieces. Looks like you are getting there cfy7. How stable does the printer seem while it is printing? Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 Xan with Diytechshop keeps telling me they're working on getting the manual on their website. He said they tried to do it but it's over a gigabit and had issues posting. I'll have more pictures posted tonight or tomorrow morning, and if anyone has any questions on assembly or dimensions I'll be happy to help. Wow, that's huge. Hopefully the new manual will contain a lot better informaby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 I borrowed some stepper drivers to run my Omega and was able to start extruding some plastic. I'm still working on getting the config file perfected. Hi cfy7, Was there any addtional documentation for hooking up the electronics, or are you just going by the schematic in the DIY build docs for the i3x? Did they at least come with the necessary jumpers, just not installed, or will I moby brucehvn - Reprappers
Quotecfy7 Just got off the phone with Diytechshop. ... cfy7, Thanks for your continued updates. It's very helpful. I will do the same when I get my i3A. I haven't gotten any shipping info yet, but I don't expect anything until next Monday based on what their website says (All units will ship 10 business days after purchase). Nice, you ordered the LCD as well. I did too. Thanks for the update. Bruceby brucehvn - Reprappers
This looks like it will be an adventure for a first timer like me. Looking over the build instructions for the i3x, I can tell I'll be spending a lot of time here to try and piece it all together to get the alpha setup. The instructions basically get you through the mechanical setup, then that's it, you are on your own. No instructions on how to assemble the hotend, the heated build plate, runby brucehvn - Reprappers
I ordered the i3 Alpha from DIYTechshop last weekend. On this past Monday I noticed it said it was "pre-order". I called and left a message, and sent e-mail seeing when my estimated ship date would be. Never got any response (surprise!). Now it still says pre-order, but they added a line that all printers will ship 10 days after order unless otherwise noted. So we'll see what happens. I'm rby brucehvn - Reprappers
QuoteAbuMaia Normally there's a nut on the threaded rod inside the X axis motor mount and idler. What this object does is relocate that nut to the yellow piece. Yes, the yellow piece moves up and down the threaded and smooth rods. The X axis motor mount and idler ride on top of the yellow piece. When Z axis is moved down to zero, the extruder hotend will touch the build plate and stop, but the yeby brucehvn - General Mendel Topics
Ok, I've looked at thinguniverse and the videos, but I'm still a little confused about how this mounts and how to set the initial position. What is holding it in place? I saw something about a nut that the yellow piece holds. Is that nut there by default, or is it added just for this device. I don't have my printer kit yet, so I can't look for myself, but from images, it appears there is no nby brucehvn - General Mendel Topics
