thx Chri - I'll try that. I assume u mean change all of them. I have been looking for good explainations of what some of these advanced settings mean/do but have not found anything comprehensive. Are u aware of anything?by ruggb - Slic3r
Using Repetier 1.5.3 and Slic3r 1.2.9 I printed this at 0.15mm layer and I have 2 problems. The 1st one is the 1st layer of the top. (under the infill) The 2nd one is the top layer of the top. (on top of infill) The "top" is the part where u can see the infill and not the actual top of the print. There is no support except for a few single threads Slic3r makes. The settings: see attachmentsby ruggb - Slic3r
Never mine - I found a bunch of garbage in the file unrelated to the model and have no idea where it came from.by ruggb - Slic3r
I have a simple model - it is a headband for earphones. Basically a 3d rectangle bent in 10 places. Slic3r says it is not manifold, but 2 other pieced of s/w say it is. I "fix" it with netfabb and it still says it is not manifold. Careful inspection reveals nothing. SO what is the problem with slic3r????/by ruggb - Slic3r
my extrusion width is default (auto). I have no clue as to what this does compared to layer height which I understand. so what do i chg it to?by ruggb - Printing
thx - My other point of confusion is that whoever created the pin output diagram changed Vcc to 5V everywhere. I went back and looked at the schematic and the only 5V is the servo 5V. Maybe u can answer this part of my problem - fan extender bd apparently is only 2x N channel MOSFETs in a package so they need only a ground, 12v, and input signal. I put this #undef FAN_PIN #define FAN_PIN 11 intoby ruggb - RAMPS Electronics
How to connect basic parts to a Ramps bd is easy!!!!!!!!! But I have complicated matters by using 2 extruders. Now, I need to connect a fan extender and use some additional I/O for LEDs etc. When does +5V not = +5V?????? When it is on a Ramps schematic. 5v pins on the servo I/O appears to only go to the 5V pin next to the PS ON pin. It is not connected to any other 5v designation on the schematicby ruggb - RAMPS Electronics
actually, it is the documentation that needs work. The issue was i selected the wrong motherboard but there was no info in the dev version config file. It is a large reorganization job. I think they r trying to put all variables in the config file but other things r moving to strange places.by ruggb - CoreXY Machines
it homes both X & Y at the same time (a diagonal home) to speed things up. U must uncomment it - it is in configuration_adv.h but it doesn't work in 1.0.2 It does work in 1.0.3 dev - but it appears that 2 extruders doesn't work. 1.0.3 dev has some major reformatting work. I think they r trying to get all the variable into the 2 config files. So if u have modified other files u will need to reby ruggb - CoreXY Machines
the answer is - it doesn't work in Marlin 1.0.2 BUT it does work in Marlin 1.0.3 dev. Unfortunately, I can't set EXTRUDERS 2 and get it to step except to home.by ruggb - CoreXY Machines
I set quickhome in Marlin but when I use it it crashes the endstops. If I home axis individually the endstops work fine. There was a config I had that worked but I can't find that one. Can anyone point me to the issue?by ruggb - CoreXY Machines
I have quickhome enabled for my coreXY. I lost something b/c it worked in one of my configurations but now it crashes the endstops. If I home one axis at a time the endstops work fine. Can't figure out what I missed. Can u??by ruggb - CoreXY Machines
I am trying to print a somewhat difficult model (IMHO). When I slice it with sli3r or cura it creates holes in the wall of the model. The wall is not the thinest part. The hole positions r not the same for either slicer. I did not print this, I am only looking at the layer structure in Repetier. I tried changing the layer thickness (0.1, 0.2, 0.4) and the holes r still there but maybe in differnby ruggb - Printing
thanks - that fixed my issue name not numberby ruggb - RAMPS Electronics
I dnld files for a printer and they were .DX files. I figured out that was just a zipped file. Now I see .DAT files and a .SMT file. It is a text file but I have no idea what to do with it - or the .DAT files. I want to open it in Sketchup Can someone give me a clue?by ruggb - General
I am about to print a piece that has a 40mmx15mmX2mm overhang piece. I am sure it will need support. I have support checked in the config I ran it thru Slic3r but I see no support in the model. Is the support structure suppose to be visible in the sliced preview? If it is, how do I get it there? - otherwise it is printing in open space.by ruggb - Printing
Nick I'm a newwwwby so this may be irrelavent but I put together a 2-up and added a gantry pulley system. After trying a couple of "strings" I picked up a roll of jewelry bead stringing wire at Michael's Craft. It works great - virtually no stretch since it is wire. It comes in a lot of variations but what I got was: brand: Beadalon Strands: 49 -- this is VERY flexable size: 0.024" - 0.61mm lengtby ruggb - Developers
DUH! Connect? who'da thunk. Drivers r fine. I think I hit connect the first time I ran Repetier and since totally forgot about it................... now it is Idle. Printer info shows Up-Marlin is installed. So I guess the rest is academic - BUT I would still like to solve that issue. I did just fix solder joints on the USB connector that were intermittent/broken so I don't know that those may hby ruggb - General
thx for the reply; I did connect 12v but currently it is not. It is only used to supply 5V in parallel with the USB 5V and pwr to the peripherals. So it isn't needed if nothing is connected. I tried this with 12V connected in the beginning and it made no difference. It is a rev D bd. BOOT jumper is ON when I try to run the upload. I am not even at that point yet b/c the f/w won't compile whetheby ruggb - General
thx for the reply that is the OTHER issue........ I started out trying to load f/w, but for some reason it keeps coming back with file not found errors for library files when I try to run it. I have loaded arduino 1.06 and teensy 1.20 and loaded Marlin v1 but when I start adruino and open Marlin then click verify it currently can't find core_id.h I moved some files around that it wasn't findingby ruggb - General
Please consider me an idiot. I am finding out how much I don't know but I am a retired EE. I have parts of a 2up - broken parts to be sent "ASAP" - so maybe it will take another 5months for that. I want to test and load new firmware onto the Printrboard. I have Arduino 1.06, Teensy-1.20, Flip 3.4.7.112, UP_Marlin_v1, Repetier-Host 1.05, and others loaded on the computer. When I plug the bd in, thby ruggb - General
