Thanks so much for this build log, I've just done the exact same thing myself and was doing OK from the Duet documentation but needed your info to sort out the Z-probe wiring. I've just done my first print. The printer needs more setup/calibration as the nozzle height on the first layer was a tad high and it's a bit blobby overall but I basically went straight to a working printer from a dead onby ncmreynolds - Ormerod
I got the Duet out and it's very very crispy. I can't imagine effecting a worthwhile repair even though the rest of the board works. I guess it's time to order that replacement.by ncmreynolds - Duet
Just got my multimeter out and the 5V rail is dead on. It wasn't under any particular load as the printer was idle, but I'm assuming all the heavy current stuff is on the 12V rail.by ncmreynolds - Duet
I'm very likely to buy a Duet Wi-Fi as a replacement so I'll bear that in mind, thanks.by ncmreynolds - Duet
It's an unmodified Ormerod, so I'm not convinced I overloaded anything. I've ended up having no time to look at this but I will do once we hit mid-April.by ncmreynolds - Duet
Well after a couple of years of regular use my Duet board in my Ormerod died. The MOSFET (I assume) that drives the heated bed burned out quite spectacularly, as per the attached picture. Everything else still works just fine. It's a testament to the printer as a whole that I've barely had to do a thing to it in this time apart from feed it filament and keep it clean. I could probably bodge a rby ncmreynolds - Duet
Thanks for the replies folks, from the Web interface it says... Firmware Name: RepRapFirmware Firmware Version: 1.09 (2015-04-21) Web Interface Version: HTML: 1.06, JS: 1.06 ...I couldn't see anywhere it shows any more detailed version info. However yesterday I tried it (in Chrome) and it just worked. The only thing that changed in the meantime is everything has been rebooted because I went toby ncmreynolds - Ormerod
QuoteDarathy Good thing abaut reprap you can mostly modify them and there are clones of the nozzles on ebay or you can add E3D or any other type(you will have to check if there are mounts already made on www.thingiverse.com or design one yourself) I'm thinking I ought to get started on arranging an alternative hot end and extruder now so I'm prepared. No good thinking about it once the printer iby ncmreynolds - Ormerod
QuoteNeilFrazerLX It's sorted now. Just needed to reset and re-load the page. Sorry, what exactly was the issue? I've just built a new printer and it works fine through Pronterface but the Web interface seems totally flaky and is mostly unresponsive, failing to update at all unless you disconnnect/reconnect much like you've described. I can move the nozzle around and look at the contents of theby ncmreynolds - Ormerod
I too bought an Ormerod 2 immediately after Christmas from RS and am sad to hear they've ceased trading. I deliberately bought an RRP machine rather than a pre-made consumer one so that it had far less chance of becoming 'abandonware', which is a common problem with consumer 2D printers and scanners. I'm hoping the worries about spares get cleared up as I'm just starting out with my printer andby ncmreynolds - Ormerod
