I will be printing mainly ABS and the occasional PLA for a friends model railroad diaramas. This means I need cooling fans and other diameter nozzles. Changing the print head to the newer E3D V6 would make nozzle sizes a bit easier? I believe I would have more clearance for part cooling fan options? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Ps. Something like this?by Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Problem: When printing infill the surface gets raised a little more than it should and forms little high spots. As the print head moves over these areas it gets knocked upwards. As it gets to printing the second or third solid layer this eventually seems to smooth out. It does however not give as smooth a finish as when printing top layers where no infill is used. Calibration has been done and dby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Quotedroftarts It's worth taking a look at the ABS guide in our Tricolour instructions, for general guidance, here: Its a pitty we have lost this Troubleshooting article.by Karoo Klong - Ormerod

Yes i must say since Prusa started developing their own branch of Slic3r it has improved significantly. Could you perhaps share the settings for your Ormerod in Simplify 3D? I have a friend that owns a copy and I would like to try it out on my printer to see how it works.by Karoo Klong - Ormerod
I am looking for a nozzle to do railroad figure prints for my friend. Should I look for 0.3 nozzle? or smaller?by Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Quoteormerod168 QuoteKaroo Klong The pistol print looks amazing. What material did you use for it? PLA from Filaprint AFAIR QuoteAlso what slicer did you use and perhaps settings? Last Question. What is the best hotend cooling setup for ABS Exclusive printing? 1. With Standard Ormerod Hotend (Also what is the nozzle type if I want to buy 0.4 or 0.3mm nozzles? what thread tipe) 2. With other alternative hotends?by Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Quoteormerod168 Quotegwild Hello, Because I've been having problems with overhangs curling up, I'd like to add a cooling fan to my Ormerod 2, model 528.2 with the older 'one piece stainless steel nozzle'. gwild Yes cooling is important but also the stretch of hot filament, e.g. think of the extruded filament as rubber bands added upon each others like outer layers, if you stretch them before adby Karoo Klong - Ormerod

Quoteormerod168 QuoteKaroo Klong I get that, but the air still only blows from one side. I would like to create something that goes around the print head to eliminate uneven cooling. I suppose one could incorporate one of these smaller surroundings shrouds onto your fan bracket? I've been through all this, forget about using a ordinary fan, you will need the pressure of a radial fan blower Way tby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
QuoteWesBrooks Yeah, my solution isn't ideal but was enough to get 45 degree overhangs, bridges, and a middling effort on the benchy (will reply to your other post later!) working on a more-or-less stock system without causing too much headache or obstruction of hot end fan vents. Pleased with tje bridging now. LoL, I see we use the same flashlight also.by Karoo Klong - Ormerod

Ok Guys there is a BIG problem here. I have saved both the .ini from GET Hub as well as the .ini code that you shared here. Also with both of them, if you go to FILAMENT then it states DIAMETER 3mm What else might be wrong in this file?by Karoo Klong - Ormerod

I read somewere else on this forum about exactly that same problem and remembered that they stated same solution. If I find it I will let you know. Or hopefully someone else also knows about it and will guide you on that.by Karoo Klong - Ormerod

I went hunting for J-Head part cooling fans and found these possible options. - For Ormerod - Could posibly be adapted to suit - Liking this one very much - This one could also be briliant if only my remodeling skills were better - Dual print head. Quotecjdudley Hi guys. I'm new when it comes to 3D printing, but want to get into it. I bought a second-hand Ormerod 2 from a friend, and I've been trying to get it working. So far, I've been able to use pronterface to control it from my PC, moving the nozzle around and extruding filament. I've also installed slic3r, and it seems to recognise my printer. Printing files is where I'm stumped. I cby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
