Yes! The nozzle was at the origin. (Everything appeared to be parallel and centered) I measured my AZ BZ and CZ values from the print surface to the top of the mover. My DZ was measured from the top of one of the D-line idlers to the top of the mover. It's got to be something easy i'm missing.by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Thanks for the quick reply! I was measuring manually, values reported in mm in the firmware. I followed the attached diagram for where my measurement points were. All measurements were taken at the same Z-height. The sanity check came back within +-3mm.by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Howdy all. Starting to narrow down my issues hopefully. Re-calibrated again, sanity check says +-3mm this time, so i'm feeling pretty good about it. Drivers are all now confirmed to be in 1/16, no issues there. The behavior i'm seeing is this: Move -Y = lose tension Move +Y = gain tension Move -X = lose tension Move +X = gain tension Move +Z = lose tension Move -Z = gain tension Might bby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
After some more digging. I replaced my DRV8825 drivers with A4988s, which have a maximum of 1/16 stepping, and put the jumpers back in place. Similar behavior after updating the firmware and everything, so I suspect maybe I have some funky values somewhere in the firmware where they shouldn't be. Next troubleshooting will be to re-calibrate and then start from scratch with the firmware. Thankby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Howdy everyone. I'm revisiting this project after a long hiatus and moving locations. Upon setting up the hangprinter again, i'm running into the same issue as I was before where when making Z-axis moves (G1 Zxx), the A, B, and C spools do not move proportionally to keep up with the D spool. I have checked my stepper drivers and the jumpers were all identical on the bench, and the all appearby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Whew, finally getting a little time to work on this project again. Coming back to it today, I have set the A_Z, B_Z, and C_Z values to -200 as suggested. No noticeable differences upon moving it around, the ABC lines get loose and tight as the mover moves up and down, with the ABC spools only moving a little when moving the D line at high speed. My X and Y movements appear to be working just fiby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
@Tobben EDIT: Upon messing around a little more, it appears that the ABC spools will move with a higher speed Z-move, but do not appear to be moving nearly enough to keep up with D spool I believe they are completely stationary, but it may be linked to the speed. Aha, I did not realize that the G1 commands were absolute, not relative that was my misunderstanding. Executing a G1 X1 Z50 yieldsby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
@tobben The Z moves attempted were probably between 30-50mm by executing G1 Z30 commands in pronterface. My calibration values are listed below. ANCHOR_A_Y -983 ANCHOR_A_Z -110 ANCHOR_B_X 1074 ANCHOR_B_Y 731 ANCHOR_B_Z -110 ANCHOR_C_X -1049 ANCHOR_C_Y 619 ANCHOR_C_Z -110 ANCHOR_D_Z 2064by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Howdy all! Finally got to come back to my hangprinter build after many months working away from home. I got it hanging up, calibrated (first attempt anyhow), and moving in the X and Y directions properly. However, when I move it in the Z-direction, the ABC spools do not move at all. I updated to the most recent firmware, and attempted again with the same results. Has anyone run into this bby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Made good progress today, hoping to post pictures soon when I get everything powered up. Has anyone used the octoprint hangprinter plugin before? I'll be using octoprint for my printer and it looks like it may make calibration a little bit easier.by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Aha, I wasn't really considering the orientation of the ABC rollers enough. Taking that advice into account, here's what I think i'll go with. The distance of the ABC linerollers aren't equal, but my impression is that shouldn't impact things too much. EDIT: I'll probably end up moving my electronics around once I get my motors mounted and figure out what's easiest to manage.by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Alright, i'm making some progress. I'm looking for a verification that this ceiling layout will work. The top left will be my D line roller, and my ABC axes i'm going to decide once I layout the room and where my anchors will be. Does it look like this layout will work?by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Chris, one thing I noticed in regard to your first video when you bundle the wires for the hot end on your ribbon cable, you used mentioned tripling up on the 28AWG wires for the hot end. Making an assumption that you have a 40W hot end (I think this is what the volcano is) at 12V. Worst case puts the hot end pulling 3.33A. If i'm thinking about ampacity properly, that's 1.11A per wire, which seby Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Fantastic. Thanks for the quick reply! I'll hopefully have some good build pictures soon to post.by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
Howdy all, Got my hangar assembled, about to start on the ceiling plate. How do you determine how much line to cut for each one of your rollers? Additionally, does anybody have any "good to know" type tips for planning and building the ceiling plate?by Alandaeta - Hangprinter
