hi, thank you for your reply. It does make sense! I now have a the Marlin firmware, the supplier also sent me the original file but I get plenty of errors in the IDE even before changing anything. So i'm not sure they are the right ones. Do you have any experience with the repetier firmware, some say it works better than the Marlin one.by WestMD - Reprappers
Hi, I have an Icarus 3D Printer (mendel2) with a Melzi controller. I try to download the firmware from the board so I can make some adjustments for an LCD and re-upload it. Is it possible to download the current firmware from the board and how? thxby WestMD - Reprappers
Werkt de display nu? Mij is het niet gelukt? Welke adapters gebruik je tussen display en Melzi en heb je de pinout van de Melzi? Thx!by WestMD - Dutch User Group - Archive
yes I was able to open parallel sessions of pronterface in OS X in terminal open -n /Applications/Printrun20140310.app chose the right port and I can control both printers at the same timeby WestMD - Reprappers
Hi, is there any way to manage 2 (or more) mendels with the same computer at the same time ?( by preference mac or RPi) Is there any software you know of that supports multiple printers?by WestMD - Reprappers
Thank you, I think I will go with the kapton solution.by WestMD - Reprappers
Thank you very much guys for your feedback. And a big big SORRY, I somehow forgot to click on the mail alert and thought there wasn't any response on my question :s I just see now you all took the time to help me out. Anyway I have learn my lesson no, always double-check the mail alert. I think i have solved the problem in the meantime by placing a 8cm fan on the ramps board. Apparently the boaby WestMD - Reprappers
Setting: Prusa I3, ramps 1.4, 550W ATX PSU, Gadget 3D LCD with SD support. probably not relevant at all but just in case, Slic3r settings. Hi, my machine always stops after a few hours of printing so I can never finish bigger prints. Before I had the LCD display, I used prontrface and I thought the communication between the computer and the printer was the reason. Now I print straight from SD (by WestMD - Reprappers
thank you, that is very clear. One more question: a very strange thing is I've already calibrated the e steps when I've assembled the printer and there was no need for adjustment. Now a few months later when using a neutral color PLA (diam 2.6 mm) for an extrusion of 50mm it only took like 43.6 mm filament. That is the reason why I wanted to adjust the extruder steps. Now yesterday, I wanted yoby WestMD - Reprappers
Hi Thank you so much for your answer. So enabling eeprom makes you store values which overrule the firmware. I found something about eeprom in Configuration.h between lines 311 and 320. So I guess mine is tuned off now. // EEPROM // the microcontroller can store settings in the EEPROM, e.g. max velocity... // M500 - stores paramters in EEPROM // M501 - reads parameters from EEPROM (if you neeby WestMD - Reprappers
I found this post here which I guss explains where the configuration line is exactly but I've got a little worried now since I saw it is possible that the eeprom settings overrule the flashed firmware. I've installed an LCD display a few weeks ago and I have changed some values by accident. I didn't worry at first because I thought resetting would get everything back like first but since my prinby WestMD - Reprappers
I followed this and this this guide for my extruder calibration (i3 prusa) which seems to under extrude for the moment. I use the Marlin Prusa I3 firmware and can't find anywhere the line where I normally should fill in the new calibrated e steps According to the rich rap calibration guide it should look like this: // X, Y, Z, E steps per unit - Metric Prusa Mendel with Wade extruder: float aby WestMD - Reprappers

Believe me, I have searched for it but couldn't find anything. Only thing it says is that can handle temperatures up to 1000° But things seems to work fine now. I should have measured power consumption of the resistor before and compare with current values to see if it's more efficient now.by WestMD - General
I have just bought some exaust repair gum named Firegum. Should this be a good heat conductor? It also hardens when heated, isn't that a problem when the resistor needs to be changed?by WestMD - General
I have solved it by reversing the polarity of all steppers except for the x motor. All movements are correct nowby WestMD - General
I have just connected my Prusa i3 for the first time and I'm playing a little with the manual commands in printrun. The X axis end stop seems to work fine although it will only stop left when hitting the end stop. I don't know if it's supposed to or not. The problem is with the Z and Y axis. The extruder only moves in the direction of the end-stop while already being jammed by it. Every attempby WestMD - General
I just turned my printer on for the first time. Tested the hot end temperature in pronterface with the delivered 0.6 mm wires and the resistor and it works just fine. the wires don't seem to get very hot. The resistor is just 'loose' in the nozzle with no thermal compound or whatsoever. I don4t have any. Should I get some and how bad is it to use it without? While calibrating I have just facedby WestMD - General
A supplier delivered me the 5W resistor for the hot-end with 0,6mm wires. This seems much too light to me. Should I use those of choose a larger section?by WestMD - General
