Hi all,
I have finally finished wiring my Reprapdiscount Taurino/Ramps 1.4/LCD smart controller to my Mendelmax 1.5 and am having some problems connect to my printer using Pronterface. I was able to flash the Taurino using the Arduino IDE successfully and have downloaded and installed Skeinforge and Pronterface.
Before clicking the Connect button in Pronterface, the LCD Smart Controller displa

Hi all, I just got my electronics (reprapdiscount ramps 1.4 with LCD smart controller) and wanted to try uploading Marlin.
I just trying to see if I can get Marlin to compile at first, so I didn't change anything. I opened the Marlin.pde file in Arduino 1.0.1 and it didn't work. I got the following error:

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, when I checked their web site, the longest available length of 8mm linear shafting was 400mm. I believe that the X axis requires two 428mm length 8mm diameter rods.

Hello all,
I've been gathering bits and pieces for some time now, and reading tons of information leading to paralysis by analysis. So I've decided that my build will be a Mendel because I will eventually want to upgrade to a RepRapPro Mendel. Not only do I like the idea of multi-colour printing, but am hoping that soluable support printing may eventually become a more viable solution.
So far I

Thanks CdnReprap! I'll check some of those out, it's nice to find a place that sells out of the US that ships USPS (kelinginc) and since I go through Oshawa daily I'll definitely check out BDI. Creatron had some stepper motors but they were quite small (~40mm x 40mm x 30mm) and had little info on them. According to their web site they had enough holding torque but I think I'd prefer something

I tried posting this yesterday but for some reason my response was never posted. Anyway, I found a place in Toronto called Creatron Inc at Spadina and College that sells Arduino Mega kits. They also have the Pololu A4983 stepper motor drivers although they list them as Allegro in the store. I also found some cheap-o stepper motors at Active Surplus on Queen st for $5. I don't think they'll be

Hello all
I'm looking to get started on the electronics potion of my build and was wondering the best way to do this. Is purchasing electronics from makerbot the easiest solution for someone without a lot of programming experience? Is there a substitute that can be purchased locally (in the GTA?) or should I just get the full electronics kit from makerbot?
Thanks,
Sean
