First print was successful! It touched 179, but generally stayed in the safe zone.
After reading Nophead's post I added a second hard drive.
Now the hot end actually stays near where I set it.
May have to back-off the settings. Too hot I think.

Hadn't Loaded the 5v rail.
As I don't have any resisters hanging around, I grabbed an old hard drive.
With both bed and hot end on I now get 11.28v from psu.
Hot end 11.22v with bed on.
Bed 10.08 with hot end on. (10.87 at Ramps)
That's an improvement.
I'll try a print with this.
May add some lines to the heat bed later.

I've got my Prusa working and the prints are nice.
However, on larger prints where the head has to move longish distances, I'm losing too much heat.
If my tip gets below 175 it stops extruding.
Currently, I'm babysitting the prints and pausing when head temp gets below 180. waiting until it is at least 185 to resume.
This isn't good for quality prints.

I had my Y backwards too.
I noticed the prints were opposite front-back to the image on Pronterface.
Fixed my end stop and flipped the Y cable.
Now the prints where right, but I coulden't figure out why when you hit the Y- Down arrow, the bead would move away from you.
Then it hit me!!!
The target arrangement on Pronterface Isn't in relation to the bead. It's in relation to the PRINT HEAD!!!

I must admit, I haven't had my rig running for that long at a stretch.... yet.
Would a plate holding the brass, mounted just below the PTFE solve or at least delay this problem?

I'm currently happily working with this design.
Of course that is after breaking and rebuilding it 7 times.
I've destroyed 1 nozzle. heated too much trying to clean...
ruined 3 PTFE tubes and have 2 suspect brass.
I do love the design though because of its simplicity, cost and I've learned SO much from it.
Others will tell you to get something better.
Proper assembly is tricky.

I cracked my first sheet of glass today.
Trying to get it hot enough for ABS to stick. PLA was working fine.
The glass was standard window pain from the local hardware store. So, I knew it might crack trying to reach ABS working temperatures.
I tried to find borosilicate glass, but the shop I called only had something else that was ungodly expensive.
So, the obvious questions are:

It's a PTFE rod with a threaded brass rod. both 3mm holed. Aluminum heater block threaded on then brass acorn nut with .34mm hole.

I love the reversed hobbed bolt I got with my Plastic parts. Nice open groves with good sized teeth.
However, After removing the plastic, I was surprised how much plastic had actually managed to get lodged in there

Noob, trying hard.
Prusa Mendel using Sfact, Pronterface and Sprinter.
Two days ago, I was printing Stars and/or 20mm cubes to dial in the Extrusion width on my .34 nozzle.
All the prints were working fine, except seemed slightly over stuffed at .25 height and .40 extrusion width.
Today, I was going to try .42 and/or .38 width, but I can't get the unit to fill past the second layer. The PLA j
