HI all Just been read the preceding conversations and thought I would throw my ideas in the ring for a good kicking Re print size, I think a set of standard bed sizes would be a good idea, Bed size A (small) bed B (Larger) etc. This would mean standard heated beds could be made and prices would drop. A printer could then be clasiffied as a type A with 10cm Z axis. As this 'standard' workedby robsbots - Developers

Hi everyone. I'm getting together the parts for a Mendel Prusa. I have all the nuts and bolts. Studding, etc. Steel rod to be picked up at the end of the week. The Audrino is sat on my desk now. Ramps in the post. All I'm currently missing is 1 stepper motor, the belts and the big one. So..... Is there anyone out there that would consider lending me a set of Prusa plastics to get a build goingby robsbots - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
This is exactly what I'm finding. I have been on the IRC recently and have found boundless information on there. I keep pinching the useful links and adding them to my own page. If the wiki could be structured in such a way that say all the main stream Prusa info was under a Prusa category and improvments that make it to main stream use are then added but until they are main stream and still iby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Thats the bit that I think needs to come first but I don't have enough experiance of the project to offer a valid opinion yet. I'm still working on getting the kit together for my first build. If that can happen the rest should be simple, but until there is a structure in place its difficult to structure the data in any meanigful way I'm hoping to get busy soon with hardware but at the moment Iby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Hi all Yes I have seen the categorys, but there seem to be lots, some are copies of others with slight name changes, some are under used. I was thinking that if category creation was mininalized and standardised the wiki would become more managable and would almost take care of its self. A standard list of top categories would be required, then these could branch out to sub categories, but atby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Lo all. I'm near Colchester. Yes. Im an essex boy, but don't hold that against me I'm into micro controllers (Pic micros) and robotics (hense the handle) and the Reprap is just what the robotics community needs. A simple way to make their own specific parts for building bots. This could mean a biped bot explosion. I have a good selection of tools, a lathe to play with and ability to make simby robsbots - United Kingdom RepRap User Group

You may find the smaller lathes are more expensive in the second hand market. A large lathe will probably be cheaper as they are less sort after on the hobby market. The only problem is they tend to be very large/heavy and require 3 phase power. Old large machines are almost worthless. Priced for scrap rather than as tools. Job done. Check out the page. Regarding the picture size. I have set up imagemagick so it will take an image, say 1200x900 and convert it to 600x450. 600 on the largest side but keeping aspect ratio. A 900x1200 would come out at 540x600 with the same command. Imagemagick is such a great program, and at a great price . It would be nice to have a photograph of each part and an isometric cad picby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Is it possible to have CAPTCHA on all new page creations. I feel this would not stop people creating pages but should cut down on spam. If it is required to have this on page edits as well, then a CAPTCHA on new user account creation. i have been keeping a list of some of the users spamming and it seems to be a different user each time, so a sligtly tougher account creation system may achieve tby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy

Hi all. I have had a quick look at the MediaWiki help wiki and it say's you can have categories and sub categories. You can also have a page beloning to more than one category. I would like to propose organising the Reprap wiki into categories and sub categories. Each machine could have a category. The Medel, Prusa, Huxley etc. This would be further split into print head, electronics etc. Theby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
On page there is a request for some pdf's to be converted to png format. I have done this for the pdfs in the zip file Mendel Drawings.zip. I have made them 600x600. If you would like a different size let me know. It only takes a couple of minutes to sort out so its no problem. I havn't uploaded them because Im not sure if thats what you want. If you would like the files as 600x600 png's youby robsbots - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Hi I have a couple of thoughts on standards I would like to chuck in the ring. RepRaps are gonna get bigger......... and smaller. RepRaps will be hacked and developed along the way in the shed. I know both these things are obvious but they relate to the following :- 1. There could be 2 hardware standards. A standard for larger machines and a standard for the smaller robots. This would relateby robsbots - Developers
Hi bryanandaimee That looks great. Just the sort of thing I'm after. It has all the features I'm after. The only supplier I've found so far is ebay but I'll keep looking. ( Rapid/RS/Farnell don't stock it ) I'll have to read through the data sheet and have a look at the RAMPS board. I think this stepper driver will work as is and give the ability to access microstepping modes under softwareby robsbots - General
I'm planning on fabbing my own with the iron on transfer method if I can find a well tested board. I'm looking for something thats good for about 5 amps per channel I think, and can easily interface with the Ramps. I will then start looking for the BIG motors. I think its gonna be easier matching motors to controller rather than controller to motors. Stepper motors seem to be ten a penny. Opby robsbots - General

Hi all. Im a new hopeful. I've been looking around the wiki and decided "I WANT one of those". I'm fairly practical and have access to all sorts of toys, Welder, Lathe, Drill Press etc and fancy having a crack at building a Mendel. I am a bit of a DIYer so would like to make the electronics, including the PCB's possibly. What electronics should I be looking at. I would like to build a complby robsbots - General
