Nophead, Are you running the heating element from a Relay or a MOSFET? Andyby annodomini2 - General
Hi Dave, Welcome! You'll have to design us a Stepper motor controller ASIC that can be printed and run cool! As you can see from above me and a guy in the US are working on revised electronics for Mendel (that's the current machine project name if you weren't aware). Piezo-Electric Actuator Thoughts? Don't know if holding torque would be high enough!?by annodomini2 - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
The main issues with replicated hydraulics are 1. Sealing, precision isn't very high so sealing will be an issue 2. Stiction or Static friction, Cylinders have very high static friction issues. This will cause significant precision issues. 3. Pressure, due to the materials used and for safety pressures will have to be kept low, which means more flow for the same power. This results in more oiby annodomini2 - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
It's a USB->RS232 TTL cable, It's specifically used in this way, RS232 drivers are a pain in the arse, the aim is to eliminate the full RS232 interface.by annodomini2 - Controllers

The Mbed dev board I am currently using, has an LPC1768, 100Mhz Cortex M3 ETHERNET, USB, CAN x2, UARTx4, SPI, I2C etc etc, 512k flash and 64k Ram, and their around $60.by annodomini2 - Next Wave Electronics Working Group

Are there tables of the Viscosity vs Temperature for different plastics. Do we have rough specifications for the maximum working temperatures of the plastics before the polymers start to break down or burn?by annodomini2 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Not a bad chip, lack of Factory bootloader is what puts me off. Microchip's dev tools aren't the best either.by annodomini2 - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
The main benefit I see for that is the I/O ports being on the standard 10pin IDC connectors, which should allow easy interfacing to standard Stepper controllers. Could be a good development starting point. And its not too expensive either.by annodomini2 - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
I'd question whether the steppers would have enough torque, also the belts result in a gearing to reduce torque requirements and improve precision.by annodomini2 - General New Machines Topics
