james glanville, I've commented out PREVENT_DANGEROUS_EXTRUDE to eliminate this possibility, and extruding at room temp (about 23C degrees). There is no strange messages in the console. Also wires seems OK, but I'll doublecked. It seems like when it need to extrude very smal amount of filament it not extrudes at all. I've also tried to set dropsegments to 1, but this has no effect. I'll probablby alik - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hello guys, I've just uploaded Marlin firmware to my RAMPS 1.4, configured it and tried to print something. However I've ancountered a strange issue - everything works, except that extruder not extrudes all the time. I.e. when it draws line it extrudes some plastic, then stops for a couple of seconds (but carriage keep moving), then extrudes some plastic again and so on. It's not mechanical proby alik - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I think making a calibration/troubleshooting wizard is a great idea! Actually, if you have all required parts, it is not too complicated to build a RepRap, and it can be done pretty fast. But make it print reliable, with high quality and fast takes more time, and it's not really straightforward. A couple of suggestions from me: First, it woul be great to have something like a parameters databaseby alik - General
е. при срабатывании концевика оноby alik - Russia RepRap User Group
Thanks, crispy1. It looks like there is no easy solution of this problem So, probably I have to use one of standatd baud rates.by alik - General
Hello guys. I'm trying to use pronterface in my Arch linux. However, when I'm trying to set baud rate to 250000 I've got error: ValueError: Failed to set custom baud rate: 250000. I know that this is not standard baud rate (standard one is 230400), but 250000 is preferrable for ATMega2560, so maybe it's possible to configure it somehow in linux? Thanks in advance.by alik - General
Did you tried all available Pololus? I've had the same issue, and as I figured out it was just burned A4988 chip. So I've replaced Pololu and it solved the problem.by alik - Reprappers
I'm from Ukraine and really understood you: for me usually shipping costs more than the thing itself. Biggest problem with filaments (ABS, PLA): 1kg of filament costs about 20$, but shipping about 30-40$! As for JHead - I bought one here, . They are not giving track number, but delivery is really cheep ($3.75) and pretty fast.by alik - General
Спасибо.by alik - Russia RepRap User Group
JazzyMT, thanks for the answer. I was just thinking about 0.35 as a perfect nozzle size, and you've confirmed my thoughts.by alik - Reprappers
I have two more questions, if you guys don't mind Which nozzle size is the best for most reliable and accurate prints? Comparing 0.3mm and 0.5mm I see following pros and cons: 0.3mm + Thiner extruded filament - more accurate prints with higher resolution. - Need more force to extrude. - Slower printing (I thing approximately should be about 2 times slower) 0.5mm + Easier to extby alik - Reprappers
nophead, I see, thanks for the explanations.by alik - Reprappers
nophead, I see, so the problem is that thin walled PTFE liner may be compressed and deformed by filament. NewPerfection, I've not found information about nozzle sizes available for this all metal hot end, is it 0.5?by alik - Reprappers
NewPerfection, I saw this design, and actually like it. It's only seems that the nozzle is not easily exchangeable. And also it's pretty expensive. To bad they are not selling hot ends for 3mm filament yetby alik - Reprappers
> I don't like ones that use a thin walled PTFE pipe as a liner. But J-heads use PTFE tube as a liner, or it's not this case?by alik - Reprappers
nophead, thanks for the answers. I've read some articles about PTFE (like this) claiming that it may be toxic even at pretty low temperatures, so this makes me worry. I've also checked a couple of all metal hot ends (like Arcol hot end) but they are using PTFE tube anyway. Maybe you could suggest best, in your opinion, hot end?by alik - Reprappers
Hello guys. I'm trying to choose the most suitable hot end for my prusa, and while reading hot ends page I've got some questions. Why PTFE is so widely used in almost any hot end design? Most hot ends using PTFE as termal insulator, and almost ALL using PTFE inner sleeve. PTFE emits toxic chemicals when heated above ~200 celsius degrees, so I would prefer not to use such material in hot end. Isby alik - Reprappers
You can try to upload this test firmware to check your motors. Basically I had the similar issue with a cheap chinese stepshitstick - one of four ordered drivers was not working. Motor just made some noise and vibration, but no smooth rotation. Also I've noticed that broken A4983 chip was extremely hot, even with heatsink.by alik - General
I'm talking about something like this. Lock nut usually fit very tight, so I thought it might be better to use it in your shaft couplers.by alik - Reprappers
aduy, I like your design. But maybe you should increase a space for nut a bit, to be able to use lock nut here?by alik - Reprappers
I've tried aquarium hose and it works great. Thank you, guys.by alik - Reprappers
nophead, thanks! I will try this.by alik - Reprappers
Hello, I've just figured out that shaft couplers from prusa iteration 2 (these ones) are too large for 5mm motor shaft. When couplers are fully screwed the inner diameter is about 6-7mm. So I'm wondering - how to attach Z-axis threaded rods to motor shafts? The only solution I see is to wrap motor shaft with some tape or heatshrink tube. Or there are some trick for this? Thanks.by alik - Reprappers
ganzzz, а Вы не думали заказать уже готовую плату (без монтажа)? Что-то вроде такого: RAMPS PCBby alik - Russia RepRap User Group
