Собственнby Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
As far as I understand, Token Ring topology used now for parts interconnection (maybe I wrong). Why don't we use more standartized interfaces like I2C for this? It looks easier and wiring should be much simpler...and so on.by Assargadon - Controllers
Yes, it looks usefull. Really it looks so usefull, I don't understand why RepRap software are independent from EMC. Is parralel port orientation only problem?by Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
As I told before, my crafting skills are poor. So, to have some practics, I going to make poker-device from my cartesian robot. It's lokks quite simple, as far as I have old but still working poker-working unit. All I need is attach it to robot and provide all this with appropriate software. I don't yet know if this software alredy maked or I should make it by myself.by Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
Thanks Sebastien, thanks Viktor. Last night I experimenting with robot and I find the way to force it move their axis. It seems fully functional. Even better: after this experiments I send several requests about this robot to different humans uses it, as was discovered by google. And this morning I receive detailed technical description - unbelievable quickly, isn't it? I plan to make control sby Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
Thanks, Sebastien. Yes, it's some kind of servo motor, manually created. In russian, "steppers" and "servomotor" are often mixed. Now I understand the difference clearly. Stepper is specially designed motors with lot number of poles, servo is motor with some feedback system - is it correct? By the way, why should I save this servo-stuff, if I can just use more powerfull steppers in CNC router?by Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
If one skilled enought to make this kind of reducer, he can just use intrinsic reducers of this robot...hm. By the way, how can I measure the "rotating force" of a drive to select proper steppers? By the way again, do this system really use rubber toothbelt? Not metal one?by Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
OK, I just bring this robot (http://richart-consalt.ru/robot.jpg) to my kitchen. And I'm impressed with construction of it. I will publish some photo of it in future, and now several words: 1) as far as I understand the motors of this robot is non-steppers at all. Instead of this, disk with holes mounted on the axe (just like in mechanooptical mice), and optoswitch used 2) Reed switch and magneby Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group

What strategy is better: 1) just buy any Arduino assembled 2) buy preprogramed ATMEGA186 + PCBs (other parts - locally) 3) buy just PCBs, and locally buy all needed stuff including AVR programmer Both have they advantages and faulties: I can train in electronics or I can spend more time and money but get guaranteed quality...hm. How do you think, is assembling of such a board complicated to novby Assargadon - General
I just receive PCBs (and some other stuff like nichrome wire) from Zach.by Assargadon - Russia RepRap User Group
For example, both cheaper and smallest Arduino clone I find is RBBB: It's pretty small (and I like it) and it's cheap (and, of course, I like it even more). I understand that you never know if it really usable if you don't try. I can try...if I have a chance.by Assargadon - General
Is it possible to use "arduino-comparible" boards? Do Arduino board should have male or female connectros onboard? Is it too hard to construct Arduino from kit?by Assargadon - General
I just receive PCBs from Zach at least. It's greate, but now I need two Arduino's. And I live in Russia. Do someone have good idea about how can I bought Arduino's (cheaper is better of course).by Assargadon - General
I overlook the internat and realize that complex of regular LCD screen, touch sensor panel and panel controller is far cheaper then assembled LCD touchscreen. And you really need a very limited and easy things to do, and the plastic hull is most hard of them, I think.by Assargadon - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Ian, why do you think size is not an issue? As far as I understand, main function of optostops is 0-position determaining. So, if we have 1mm-diameter LED and photodiode, we obtain 1-mm error in zero-position determining. By the way, maybe good alternative way to make optostops cheaper is just use 3 instead of 6 of them? Maybe it will be better to wait with this project a little. Conductive material extruder should be main step just after Darwin release. As far as I understand, manufacturing of this high-modular system will be perfect goal for next-genration RepRap. And the best design of RepRap-made design depend of RepRap printing capabilities. I read about induction heater several times, but I still do not understand advantage of this method. Maybe you explain me this?by Assargadon - Plastic Extruder Working Group
What about small loop of nichrome wire around the nozzle? If we heat it enought, it just burn out plastic string. It smells not very good, but easy and no mooving parts. Only problem is attaching this loop to nozzle. All I really understnad that I need some kind of repstrap to play with. So my impatience with delivering increased all the time.by Assargadon - Plastic Extruder Working Group
By the way, if we talking about islands and boats, in most cases we can print every island separately maybe. If we talking about "upside down table", as far as distance between legs is big enought, we can print every leg separately. Of course, it not ALWAYS possible, but, I think, it's OFTEN possible. But it's theme for another topic. So, if I understand correctly, proposed border fill pattern iby Assargadon - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Let's look at this picture: Red dots (it's good to look at full size) marks non-"very thin" thread. And there are lot of red dots on the picture. So, some other effect works here in addition to described one.by Assargadon - Plastic Extruder Working Group
There is general problem with current layers filling alhorithm: vertical holes are always filled with strings of plastic, looking like some kind of "web". For example, it's picture from last posting in RepRap blog: As far as I understand, problem is plastic stick to toolhead instead of stiking to workpiece. Or, maybe, extrusion rate is not quick enought related to stiking to workpiece. I thinkby Assargadon - Plastic Extruder Working Group
nophead, yes, there are several ways of implementation of every function listed above. The best way of implementation depends on needed function set. So, I propose to describe you opinion about every listed function...you forget to accomplish it P.S. "layer by layer" is simpest way, but not ONLY way. I propose not discuss it here - separate topic will be good for it. P.P.S. After all, "pure Fby Assargadon - General
Heh. I lost the point already. I even don't understand - is it discussion (with several opposite points) or it's conversation (with several non-opposite ideas). So, we need some kind of structure for this...topic First of all, I avoid now toolhead-dependent functions like workpiece shape understanding (dedicated instrument can be used for this) and constant force keeping (usefull (maybe) for mby Assargadon - General

Let's separate things. There are three possible touch sensor implementation ways: 1) special dedicated device (as far as I understand, it's way Zach proposed, is it correct? (sorry, my english is far from perfect)). 2) incorporate sensor(s) into extruder toolhead 3) incorporate sensor(s) into carriage special device is simple way to implement it, but it has several vital limitations.
