If you want to save some money on plastic filament you may want to start making your own. Nutralabs a UK based company have just launched a fully assembled desktop 3D filament extruder called the Noztek. It produces about a Kg reel of either PLA or ABS in a day using wholesale resin pellets, which can be purchased at a fraction of the cost of online retail filament. Thanks guys. I have noticed that you may require some kind of cooling set up as the filament is extruder to stop it kinking. I think being based in the UK I'll purchase one of these extruders and try it out for myself.by modesdo - Plastic Extruder Working Group
There is a company that sell a ready made filament extruder and they say that it should produce filament from recycled plastics but it's only currently been tested with ABS and PLA www.noztek.comby modesdo - Plastic Extruder Working Group
I've had my printer about a year now and I'm finding the filament is costing me a fortune. I've been monitoring the Kickstarter site as there seem to be quite a few desktop extruders beginning to be manufactured and these use PLA or ABS pellets which are converted into filament. However some of the early designs are built using wood and look a bit home made. This whole make your own filament ideaby modesdo - Plastic Extruder Working Group
