I have used the Excelvan ABS and the quality is very good compared to the unbranded ABS I had been using. I've used their Green, yellow, white, red and purple filaments so far, and I'm planning to order more from them. Highly recommended, but then, I've never used a "Premium" filament, so cannot honestly compare. I had been buying filament from Doria-Store, but after I had a spool which would notby Doctordee - Ormerod
I had terrible problems with large ABS prints cracking. I built a heated chamber and now the problems have gone. I have a 300x300x280mm build space and run the chamber at 50 degrees and all my cracking issues have been fixed. It's the only way to do large prints in ABS. See the attached picture for the effect of the chamber on preventing cracks. The right hand print is without the heated chamber.by Doctordee - Plastic Extruder Working Group
I tried reducing the nozzle size in Slic3r to 0.3 mm and that solves the problem. Thanks for the help. Now I just need a new nozzle... :-)by Doctordee - Slic3r
I have attached the STL file for reference. Using a Disney Font - as you can see. 0.5 mm nozzle 0.1 mm layer height - although I have tried varying this without any change. Strangely Cura engine does a much better job of slicing this as the two pictures show. Is this just a feature of Slic3r? I've never really used Cura, as Slic3r has laways done the job perfectly well, until now.by Doctordee - Slic3r
I aqm printing a finger ring with embossed text. Actually it's "engraved" text as it's a depression inthe face rather than a protrusion. Anyway, using Slic3r the text gets mangled. Letters run together and centres of letters disappear. Any idea how to avoid that?by Doctordee - Slic3r
