That's a nice design. I am also working on a project in a similar scale, though there are differences in many facets. It seems you have rack and pinnion, this too I am using to eliminate the problems of belt stretching. I too am doing an ecclosed unit. Obviously, this is the only way to approach the size prints we are working on. Have you done any large prints yet? As to license, the best thingby Maxx Mayhem - General New Machines Topics
I wonder how the wood based resin would do printing a violin. I think I might end up with a suficient build area to try this. In a similar vein, I wonder if it would be possible to create a fill pattern to get something that would be more grain like...by Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
Alright, I decided that 4 amps (combined rating on the 2 23s I'll be using on Z) is beyond the margin of error on my pololus,. and have ordered a kit to build a THB6064AH. I'm assuming I can run both motors on this in parallel. If anybody has this config, could you please let me know how to hook it up to my Z on my ramps 1.4, without affecting the other axis. Thank you.by Maxx Mayhem - RAMPS Electronics
I am using 23s rated at 2a for my z axis only. They won't be running fast, but there are 2 of them. Anybody have this working on an A4988 (3d gadgets)? Also, might it help to turn up the off time a bit?(these are the drivers with 2 pots)by Maxx Mayhem - RAMPS Electronics
That's cool. I myself am a professional joiner, (cabinetmaker, 33 years) but my machine has no wood (nor printed parts) scheduled. I have been working with wood for so long that I need to step away from it entirely for this project. Wood in general has stability issues that you may want to consider in setting up your prints. Chief among them is that when you get your printer warmed up, the wood iby Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
Thank you. I have been working on the mounting hubs for the linear rods for the last few days now. I'm just getting around to learning to use my lathe, and I'm not all that fast at it. These parts are pictured, I still have 2 days left on them including drilling, tapping, prep and powder coat. The frame is still just at the cut lengths stage, I'm trying to get most of the aluminum done first, andby Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers

Has anyone tried larger ABS priints in a heated enclosed space. It would seem that most of us are printing in rooms < 73F, which is a shock to material coming out at 230C+.by Maxx Mayhem - Plastic Extruder Working Group
I have just started on a machine which I hope will combine size and accuracy thru use of rigid fixed components and light moving assemblies. The frame is welded steel, the fixed linear rods are heavy, all are fully adjustable for accurate truing, and the carriage parts are all machined from aluminum. I believe that 3d printers, including FDM can be tuned to the accuracy needed to make reasonableby Maxx Mayhem - General
The 5a is the power for the electronics, I believe (n00b so plz bear with) the 12 v is for the heaters.by Maxx Mayhem - General
My lathe says use 70 weight or # 7 for the thread gears, so a light coating (emphasize light) of heavy gear oil in that range.by Maxx Mayhem - General
There is an all metal extruder now available, but do you have a fan to cool your upper part of your nozzle. When you retract, if the upper nozzle is too hot, it will prematurely melt your filiment and could cause the issue you are having.by Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
Have you checked that your nozzle is not clogged?by Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
OK so it's one week this evening since I started making parts for my printer... I am doing this the old fashioned way, because for one thing I don't have access to a printer to make parts, and secondly, because I like to make things that are like combinations of other things. Typically this works quite well, as long as I have done my homework. So here's my project. This printer will be a large foby Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
Well, I do have a bit of experience machining and welding, and I have a lot of machine knowelege. First off power, I will use 2 30 amp PSUs, one for bed heat, one for everything else. As to moving the bed, that was my first concern. So the very lightweight bed will be the Z axis, with pair of 23 size motors turning trap lead screws with top bearings and linear bearings on four 12 mm columns. My fby Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
I'm new to printing and the forum. I've been lurking for about a week to get an idea of how these printers work. It is good to have a place where there is so much usefull info. I am building a printer of my own design, which I will start a build thread on as soon as it is far enough along to be intersting to the members of this forum. Nearly all of my parts are on order, and much of my raw materiby Maxx Mayhem - Reprappers
